i've done a little research and read the tech article but i can't find if the 2wd extended cab drivelines are the same length as the 4wd ones. i'm tired of my 2 piece eating u joints so as soon as i know this i can continue tracking down a driveline.

thanks in advance

can't use a 2wd shaft as it doesn't have a slip yoke in it.

98+ 4x4 extended cabs and 01-05 4x4 Explorer Sport Trac's will have what you are needing.

just kidding read the tech article again and it says 4x4 trucks...

thanks sasquatch

Is your 1986 supercab a 5sp or auto?

If it's an auto your main issue would be dealing wiht the different sized (smaller) flange on the early (-89 or '90) rear axle.

If it's a 5sp your transmssion is 2" shorter than the later 4x4 manual transmissions
and there you'd be in uncharted territory... because the "one piece" driveshaft might be too short.
