1/2 Ton Buggy Build

This is with 185psi(when fully extended) in the air shocks and 7 inches of up travel. Gonna leave it there for now because the weight of the winch and radiator should take it down some more. I only want 4-5 of up travel.

Are you putting the radiator up front? If so I'd consider moving it to the rear

Yeah it's going in the front. I wanted to put it in the back but putting it in the front was a whole lot easier. If it had full hydro steering I probably would of shortened the frame and put the radiator in the back.

Reassembled some of the front ant started converting to spring under.

Think I got the ride height I want now after I lower the front about 1-1/2". Also added another crossmember that should help hold everything in place.

Looking good. You got a completion date?

This article is in the new Peterson's May 2013
I'm not planning on going fast but was still surprised to see it.

Nope mine aint even close. Steering, fuel, and some wiring and Ill be pretty close. Unfortunately I picked up another project yesterday.

I would think ground clearance would be an issue with SUA. It's much easier to go SOA and build a track bar with a shackle or slip style.

I'm guessing 2.3 turbo:dunno:

Yeah gonna loose a little clearance but less wheel hop and axle rap so it might be worth it.

Started on the rear shock mounts.

Greg, I'd say once you whack them low hanging studs off, you've lost no ground clearance! Still taller than the bottom of the pumpkin!

Yeah it's about as low as a lot of stock shock mounts or lower control arm mounts.

Plan is to paint the rest of it Saturday.

Supposed to be nice. I hope to out in the garage all day.

Nice all weekend but didn't get anything painted:bawling:

But did do a mini boatside with 3/16" and some expanded metal in a 8x10 spot in the front on Saturday. Today covered the rest of the floor with 16ga. steel and started on the trans tunnel, still need to connect them with some more sheet.
