1/2 Ton Buggy Build

Driveshaft looks good. I'm running a set too they hold up well to lots of abuse. Mine are a little bigger thats all.

Jacked the front up to see the front shaft would turn at full droop and it wouldn't but hit it with a burr on a die grinder and now it's good. Also got the steering shaft welded up.

Was wondering where the progress was. I finally got out to the garage yesterday too.

Yeah we've both been slackin..

Did the center section of the firewall tonight. Had to make it removable for trans removal. 16ga. steel with 1/4-20 nutserts and ballistic fab tabs.

Just been doing some welding and painting but not much. Started in the front and going to knock stuff out as I work my way to the back. Also redoing the leaf spring setup again, going spring under this time.

I did get to ride with Railman Sunday at Interlake.

Got to practice my recovery skills..lol

That jeep at the end looked like it was about to go for a ride

he came close, but we were able to get him out....was in the same spot I went sideways ( the "far away" shot )

yeah Greg, that was by far the wettest I have seen Interlake....and easily the slickest I have ever seen on the trails....

It's been really dry the last couple of years but back around the time I had my 4runner it was slick like that a lot. That's why it was beat to hell it looked like a wadded up piece of paper that had been flattened back out.

Had to work today but tomorrow I'll be in the garage all day. And the spring under kit arrived today from ruff stuff for the second time.

What made you go spring under on this build?

If I had to guess, and I am, its to lower his cog...

What made you go spring under on this build?

Because I already have the spring mounting points as high as I could get them and the front mount was even higher than the rear which is no good but it is still 2 inches too high. So everything is coming off and the new stuff is going under the frame and under the axle.

I will loose some ground clearance but It will have lees axle rap and the mounting points will be more like they should be.

Starting to put the front back together after welding and painting from the firewall forward.
