Hey Guys,

I haven't been on the forum for a while, but I am wanting to put a camper shell on my ranger. I want something that looks modern and stream line like it was made for the truck. I would like to do a bed rug kit in it and windows with screens. On top I want to build a roof rack/ Safari rack for going to the desert and camping with, it will hold a spare tire, mounted work lights, luggage, ammo cans w/ top strap in them.

So I am looking for some pictures of trucks kinda set-up like that to give me ideas and figure out camper shell I want. Any help will be awesome.

Here is a pic of my truck:

I don't have a rack on mine, but I do have a fiberglass topper with screened windows on my 99..... extremely common around here on Rangers:

Are you considering something like this?

Honestly, in my area, I see more Ranger's with toppers than without - even stepsides, which have REALLY wierd looking toppers in my opinion...

I like cap on the blue one and as far as the rack goes I want to build mine to the length of the top the truck. Please keep the pics coming it is giving me ideas. Anyone know the model of the cap on the blue ranger?

I'm running this top. Not sure what the big spoiler thing is for. Does it help with fuel Eco? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1339457927.389394.jpg

I dont think you could run a rack from front to back on top because of flex.. I can see the scuffs on the cab and topper where the two have bumped eachother, and a rigid metal rack spanning both is likely to mess up the fiberglass of the topper even more...

when he said build one the length of it i think he was refering to the length of the topper not the whole truck but i could be wrong

He said "length of the top of the truck" so it's hard to say....

Does he mean one similar to that SafariPacific used? One that would be mounted to the bed and span the length of the truck yet never touching the cab?

I want to run it over the cab, I space it like 2" off the top cab that should be enough for flew. I am gonna start drawing it up in solidworks so I can lay it all out. The main thing I am looking for is a good quailty nice looking cap that flows with the truck.

You could also check out ladder racks. They mount to the bed and have cleats on the side to store extra things. Can also just weld a cage to the bottom to make a floor.
