06 f150 BAD mpg suddenly?

If you let the plugs run forever it will overstress the coilpacks. I changed the plugs at 75k in my '02 and it still runs like a champ at 90k.

The only reason they get a bad rep is because people think they should run forever with no maintenance, they are more of a precision engine than most and don't like that.

agreed... if people did routine maintenance it wouldn't USUALLY be a big deal.

nothing in the motor should wear out at 87000 miles in a new truck!!!! either way how much of a pain in the a$$ is it to change the phasers?

how do i check/change the phasers in a 06 5.4?

According to the guy that did these videos, cam phasers only make noise under 1300 rpm's. Otherwise, he suggests it needs new spark plugs.

NOTE: He has a very interesting approach to spark plug removal.
