Ok so I helped one of my buddys install a sony headunit in his 05 ranger Fx4 with the stock pioneer setup and now the truck will start but wont leave park. The gauge cluster is also not working but will light up. The rpm, speedo, fuel and temp gauge will just sit there and not move. His brake lights are also not working. Ive checked damn near all the fuses and relays and I just cant seem to figure this one out. Can someone chime in and help me out I would appreciate the help very much.

i would try removing the radio and check your wiring, bet something is grounding out, hence why i buy adapter plugs, 10 to $15 tops and you dont mess with the factory harness

He bought the adapter harness and its wired in right ive checked it over many times, im just going to have to go over it again to see if the grounds are all good. Also the airbag light stays on after the truck is started if that makes any difference.

you many have pulled a lil to hard cut into a wire with the metal sub structure so your shorting out now. you may have have not grounded correctly. if you have any "extra" wires they many not really be extra lol.

You've lost a circuit somewhere. The transmission interlock is triggered by the brake light switch. The brake light circuit might be the easiest one to trace back, start at the switch to see if you have power and go from there. It does sound like a blown fuse or fuse link though.
