so the g/f's g/p needs tires now and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good tire thats between $350-$450. snow traction is not all too important seeing its such a nice car and we want to keep it outta the snow and salt but rain and dry traction are important. i keep gettin mixed reviews on tirerack for every tire i look at so i figured you guys would be able to help, thanks

$350-$450 for 4 tires is a tough price range, I'll assume your tire size is P225/60R16 97S(double check that). Looking at Tirerack, a few pop out at me as tires we install alot at the shop. Sumitomo HTR T4, Yokohama AVID TOURING-S, Sumitomo HTR A/S, Yokohama AVID TRZ. Other than those, the Cooper CS4 Touring, and Cooper Lifeliner GLS come to mind. I would call around to some local tire shops get their recommendations, some prices and see if they carry any of these. Don't forget that when you buy tires online that you still need a local installer to mount and balance them, which can cost $20 a tire including disposing the old ones.

Yokohama AVID TRZ.

I used to have those on the wife's Taurus, admittedly I had a set of Blizzaks for winter. One look at the TRZ and you can tell it won't be very good in snow, but you said that's not important. That said, I thought the TRZ's were fantastic. Dead quiet, awesome in rain, wear like iron, and don't cost a ton.
They do have a sort of directional tread, there is an inside and an outside so you have to mount them the right way, but you can rotate them from side to side. She got about 60k out of them.

She doesn't drive nearly as far to work as she used to and the Taurus is reaching a level of decrepitude such that last year I got some generic all-seasons and called it good, but the TRZ's get my vote. :icon_thumby:

What tire size? Best bet would be to go to tirerack.com, put int either the car or tire size then sort by price then get the lowest priced tire that has the customer rating you are most comfortable with.

First tire above an 8 (8.1) is the General Altimax HP (Grand Touring All-Season) @ $91 a tire. TireRack actually has quite a few (4 pages) 225/60R16s for under $100 a tire. Must be a common tire size
