anyone? cant find any info on these gauges

figures, once i learned pretty much everything i needed to know about the 3rd gen rangers, i went out and bought an '04:buttkick:

I'm actually in the same boat, I would love to have some blue gauges, but just haven't gotten around to seeing what kind of bulbs I would need.

I have a feeling that the red needles would turn a purpleish color with blue leds behind them.

If you wanted to keep the red needles, you could use white leds, which would result in the numbers being white (if you removed the film) or blue/green (not sure what color the film is, as I haven't seen it before, just speculating).

get replacement leds, and replace the bulbs with em. i think that ull need to remove the green film on it.

but will i be able to keep the red? I havent been able to find any info for this style of cluster. Maybe i could just change the color of the film and use white leds

bump.

any info on these type of gauges is appreciated

if u use white leds u just need to remove the green film. the needles will still be red

i think that best option is gettin 1 led and test it to see how the needle looks with it

holy sh!t you just sounded like me right there lol

R these Gauges similar to the 03 setup ?
If so then you can leave the red and scrape the green off but you will end up with white translucent numbers.
Add a light coat of the glass paint and then some white LED Lighting all should be OK but the White remaining on the numbers will lighten up the Blue a little.
Don’t put on too many coats of the glass paint because it gets thick fast.

If you are going to use LED Bulbs, use taller Bulbs, the ones with more of the SMD type of LEDS in them. What that does is get the LEDs closer to the Gauge ack Surface and to adds extra light through out the Cluster, maybe one of the 8 or 10 LEDs to a Bulb.
The SMD LEDs with 8 or 10 LEDs will cost a little more but IMHO add the light where needed. Std one LED Blubs do not spread the lighting as needed.

If you use BLURE SMD LED Bulbs then the RED will turn out PURPLE, if you can live with that then go for it.

Good Luck and post some pic of the end results and what you use for LEDs.

his cluster is like this one. but with black backgrounds.

seems to me that if u go with blue leds it will look like this

or u could sand down the green film and do your own blue film with paint or blue transparent film and use white leds

not sure exactly what you mean. Do i scrape off the green and then the paint makes like its own film or do i paint the green with blue glass paint?

Id rather not do it than have purple. I like them as is but i think blue would look sick!

Actually RSH, that is my gauge exactly.

The problem with the second pic you posted is that those gauges dont have the red. Im just not sure how having different colors affects it.

actually it has red and it looks purple lol
it has red on the empty fuel line and hot engine temp.
also on the low oil pressure line and both lines on the battery gauge.

i think your best option is with pic #3
sand out the green and paint it with blue and use white leds or white bulbs. that way the red will stay red. just dont sand the red lol :icon_thumby:
