im looking to drop the maximum torque rpms from 3750 down to around 2500. that way the max torque would be almost at my highway rpms and not 600 rpms above highway speed in 4th gear with 4.10's. im not going to regear to get into the rpm range just looking to drop the torque band to a proper level.

I don't know how much of this will apply to your '04, but on my '00 2wd I gained a small but none-the-less worthwhile gain in torque by doing the hot water bypass mod, the MAF mod, swapping in a 180* T-stat, taking the snorkel off my airbox inlet, and installing an electric fan.
I have an automatic and the torque converter used to constantly unlock and lock up out on the highway, but with my new-found torque it now stays locked up pretty much all the time, even on hills.

I don't think the 2500 rpm peak torque number will ever happen. However, a couple mods like an underdrive pulley and e-fan will help to free up some power throughout the rpm range. They will also increase fuel economy.

I really dont think there is any way to lower the rpm of peak torque with out other side fx.

there are 4 mods you can do to increase your peak torque.

increased compression ratio
long tube headers
increased valve lift ( cam or roller rockers )
custom tunnel ram intake manafold

If done correctly you could see gains of 20-50 HP and 30-50 ft-lbs.

the torque comes from smooth air velosity (small long runners) and air doesent like to bend.

the torque curve comes from rotational weight (flywheel, harmonic balancer)
if you reduce the weight you could lower the curve but you idle will be rough but it would sharpen throtle response.

your best thing to do is research fluid dynamics vs. flow bench testing.

rember all of your power is made in the top end of the motor.
