'03 Levell II 4wd dash lights stick...

I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find any ideas on this. It has a manual tranny and t-case and when I put it in 4wd, the light sticks for about an hour. When I put it in 4lo, It also sticks and my speedometer reads very very low at high speeds. Does anyone have any ideas? I dread taking to the dealer, but I'm at my wits end and can't even pull any codes out of it. Also, does this truck have vacuum hubs up front?

P.S. The sifter lever does engage and disengage the 4x4 system just fine, just the dash lights and speedo.

Your linkage is probably out of adjustment. It is not difficult to adjust but the dealers may not be able to do it correctly. My Ford dealer couldn't get mine right after installing a new transfer case under warranty. I ended up adjusting it myself and all was well after that.

It is also possible you may have a sticky switch on the shifter linkage.

^Yup. I was going to say the same thing.


The speedometer thing....no clue. Could be something related to your speedo sensor in the trans tailhousing. Or the speedo motor on the dash starting to give out. Does it only have a problem when in 4wd? Maybe try out a different gauge cluster.


And no, 00.5+ trucks don't have lock/unlock hubs....100% locked all the time. They have live axles. No vacuum(that PVH system = fail anyway).
