I have a 2002 FX4 and I also have an explore or fx4 level 2 8.8 rear with disc brakes. I think it came out of a ranger though because the spring perches are configured in a spring over set up and don't appear to have been rewelded there. Regardless, both axles are 4.10's however the explore/fx4 level 2 rear has a welded up diff and is slightly wider overall then my stock 8.8 with the drums. I guess what i am wondering is if I can just swap over all the disc brake hardware from the other 8.8 to my truck without having to swap the entire rear end?

Swap away you will be fine. May need a brake line but that will be about it.

I have been digging into this a little more and apparently it is a pretty simple swap with a few little problems. I guess that you can't install all the e brake components until after the axle shafts are already reinstalled. Apparently the axle shaft wont slide in far enough to get the clip on with everything installed before hand.
