I have an '02 Explorer Sport with the LEV (low emissions vehicle) 4.0 V6 in it. I have dual exhaust with Flowmasters and a K&N filter. The truck has 91k miles and never gave me any problems until last December. My 'Sploder runs (ran!) very well and smokes most V8s in big trucks. It was running fine with out any codes until I hooked up with a newer full size chevy truck and we raced on the interstate. As usual I smoked him up to my speed limited 110mph restriction and when I let off to exit my check engine light came on and the engine now runs like it has a bad plug or wire and misses with loss of power. I changed wires and plugs to no avail, I did a compression check to check for a burnt valve, all cylinders were over 160psi, no water in the oil and no oil in the water, so that kinda rules out a bad head gasket or warped head. I let it sit for a couple of months and the battery went dead taking my code with it. I have tried to run it to see if I could get the code back, but it won't come back on, it still has a loss of power and misses. Anyone have any ideas what my problem could be or what to try? I am sorry the post is so long, but I wanted to give as much information as I could just incase it sounds like a problem you may have had. Thanks for reading.
