01 XLT- remove power mirror switch

My 4-way power side mirrors are only working as 3-way. I'm pretty sure this would be a bad power mirror switch.. What is the best way to remove this switch and would anyone have any suggestions on where to buy replacement? Thank you

It's easy if you remove the door panel.

I wouldn't try prying it out since it has clips holding it in and you'll booger up the panel.

Explorers and many other Fords use the exact same switch, so they are plentiful in the JY.

I put my 2000 Ranger's switch into the 99 Explorer so the girl could adjust hers. Now, mine won't move down, but it doesn't matter. Noone drives my truck except me and I don't change the settings up/down anyway. I'm sure I'll find a switch for free or next to nothing one of these days.

The switch part number is F578-178676-AB.

On my 99, there are two screws in the hand grip well of the door. Remove them and pull the hand grip off. Should just pop off. Unplug the switch, compress the spring keepers and slide the switch out.

The 2001 - up may be different.
