Anyone ever put a glass pack on an 01 ranger? I got one for mine today and was wonderin if it will work. I heard i would have trouble with back pressure but what do y'all think?

Backpressure is a lie. You can have 3ft of pipe after the manifolds and be fine.

You can do just straight pipes after the cats and it would be fine. Don't take advice from anone who mentions that word. as long as the manifolds to cats are untouched nothing but sound will be different.

You have to have at least 24.3 pounds of backpressure at 2700 RPM's of your flux capaciter will self destruct. You'll be fine. Depends on the motor though, I had a 2.9 with a glasspack and it sounded like a pi**ed off weed wacker. Ran the same as it did before though.

yep how it sounds is all dependent on the size of the pipe you use, the lenth of the cherry bomb and size of it around. i have one on my 2.8 v6 and people thought i had a 302 in it.

I have a 4L V6 in it. It sucks gas too, I'm averaging 15mpg. Does it mattter what size glasspack I use? The one I have is fairly long and is about 2.5" on the ends. My truck I believe runs 2" pipes for the exhaust.

shorter is louder and more "harsh" sounding the longer ones are more mellower and a rumble to them IIRC mines a 23''.

The Glasspack I have tip to tip is 28" will it fit my truck?

not sure if it will not to up to date on that years layout but if needed you have all the way from the Cat back to fit it in and modify the piping as you see fit from there.

Awesome. I'll take the exhaust and my truck up to a local shop and see if they can do it. I wonder what this willl sound like after its put on :)

:icon_thumby: they shouldnt have any problems doing it if there good. and if you dont like it another popular muffler is a flowmaster 40.

Edit: forgot to say important thing: its Your truck do as YOU like if it sounds good to you dont let anyone tell you diffient.
