01-03 & 98-02 Ranger Fender Question

Just bought an 02 Ranger and it needs a new drivers' side fender. I've been searching for a used one and I notice that the drivers side fender only fits from 01 to 03 where the range on the passenger side is 98 to 02.

Does anyone know what the differences are between a 98 drivers fender and a 2002 drivers fender? If it isn't much I'm willing to bet I could buy a drivers side fender from a 2000 Ranger (available at local salvage yard) and make a modification to make it fit on my truck.

Just get the older one from aabco and make it custom fit
