so I got to end my search for a motor today. 76k on the ticker, 300 bucks for the whole truck been hit in the front end. I know from my last swap was a 98 in the 97 and the cam sensor was not the same, and I know the intakes are different. can I use the plastic one I have?
And I know this is a touchy subject bur what is the deal with the 5 converters in the exhaust? will I need that whole set up with the 01/02s motor or can I use my set upon the 97?
All so, any one need and 2wd stepside parts, has some minor fire damage from a house fire that it was partked near. front end is trashed im in eastern ky and thanks for the advice. I can't wait to get back on the trails.

You should be able to use the composite upper intake/throttle body (it's supposed to be an upgrade over the older manifolds anyway). I'd use the lower intake as well just because the number and size of the holes that the upper intake mounts to changed over the years, and keeping the newer intake manifolds together will keep you from having to drill/tap anything.

Im glad I can use that one over my older one, But what is the deal with the exhaust on these?? will I need all of it from the 01? My 97 only has 2 convertors and the 01 has like 5?

any more input on this? Is there any way I can not mess with changing the cam sensor? I had a bad time with my 98-97 swap with it and never did what you say get it right.
the more I have now runs like a dream, I would like to be able to pull from doner and drop in my 97.
Allso on the converters can I run my 2 converter set up, or do I have to run the 5 style converter.
