Just thought it would be interesting to hear other peoples 0 - 60 times. Ill start. The best I've gotten from my 1984 Ranger with a Durasparked 2.8 and 4 speed with 3.73 rear gears is 12.8 seconds.

Never timed it but my 87 2.9/5sp/2wd with a 3.45 pry clocks in high 9s. Comes hsrd outta the hole but about 45 or so when ya hit 4th it kinda flattens out.

I mis-read at first and thought you were pulling 12.8 in the 1/4 mile! I was wondering how much money you had sunk into that 2.8 to get those times....then I read it again :(

I have not had my Ranger timed yet from 0 to 60 and I have been wanting to by talking myself into it by taking it to a local drag strip just to see what it can do.

1/4 mile! No. That's his 60ft time. ???

Mine gets to 60 mph eventually, even 75 or 80 upon occasion. But I have time to eat a full-size banana split while we get there.

93 single cab, short bed, 3.0L, m50d, 4.56 gears, 35" all terrains, 6" lift

I'm gonna guess my 87 is around 8 seconds 0-60mph.

My 0-60 time is "eventually". Everything I own except the Expedition needs a 2nd gear syncro. Makes getting in there take a bit.

Reminds me of the VW adds when they brought out the new Beetle in the '90's. Some of the early ones said "0-60: Check".

I can get 0-60 in under 3 seconds according to the rear diff speed sensor with the rear end off the ground... does that still count?

You're shifting too soon. With my '91 3.0, I got the best performance if I was just coming out of second at 45mph. Out of first at around 20-25mph (I think), out of second at 45, out of third at 60, touch fourth, and into fifth.

Reminds me of the first time my then fiance and I took her Justy on the highway after we put it back on the road for her. She could never get that thing over 60mph, but that first trip, I hit 70. She was shifting too soon. At 50mph, she was already in 5th, but I was screaming up through third. That thing was a gutless piece of <censored>, by the way.

The way I understand it, horsepower helps you get up to (and hold) speed. Torque helps you pull (a trailer). The 2.9 peaks at 4600RPM. In fourth, at 45mph, you're probably turning over around 2500rpm. In third, you'd probably be 3500ish.

Reminds me of a story an old guy told me once. Brand new, 5.0 5-speed convertible Fox Mustang, complaint of shaking in 5th gear. He drove it all over town, couldn't duplicate it. He figured it was a young guys car and was driving it like he stole it. Had the owners brought in to show him, and it's Methuselah and his wife, so they get in, drop the top, and go for a drive. Old man has the car in 5th gear by 25 MPH, engine is lugged and bucking around, and his wife is screaming for him to slow down.

I always shift stuff to soon. Hell even my wifes escape with a 2.5 and an auto ill lay off the throttle around 4k.

My ranger has loud exhaust and no tach.

With a 2.8, 5 speed and 31's, I've never timed it but 15 seconds to several minutes depending on the incline.
