I have search everywhere I can think of and can’t find replacement bushings that go on the ends. The assembly isn’t available anymore, and I can’t find just the bushings, so what are you using to replace the old worn out rubber bushings?

If I'm thinking of the correct one with the bushings on the outside of the frame, then swap to the different style that mounts to the inside of the frame. Then there is no bushings, just the transmission mount.

Are they wierd shaped bushings or just plain round ones? Could likely just source some universal poly ones.

Thank you and that would be a fantastic idea. How do I find one of those? And would it use the same tranny mount for the 5sd?

I haven’t dropped the cross member to really see what they look like. At present, they are very distorted, rolled over to the side and looking very fatigued. But they do look like they might be round.

They're supposed to be round and centered, my '90 had that and they were pretty bad but fine, the shifter just moves around a bit... To replace it you would just need one from a V6 from like '90-97 and just grab all the hardware, putting it in would require removing the 6 rivets holding the factory brackets to the frame, the holes should be the same, don't have to remove the drivers side bracket I think as it sits on top of the frame there and goes around the outside on the passenger side if memory serves.

Thank you. I will see if I can find one from a V6.

Be aware that both types of cross members were used in the V6 trucks. My 84 had the in frame one recommended, while the 86 V6 had the same style as your 4 cylinder truck. If you can't find the recommend V6 crossmember I'd recommend something like this.

I don't know what your plans for the truck are, but it would be beneficial if lowering. Even if not lowering, it would still function fine as a replacement for stock.
