my 4 hi works in my ranger but 4lo doesnt the light doesnt even come on i turn the switch to 4lo and it stays in ahi and the 4hi light stays on i have no idea what could be wrong changing my clutch soon soo would like to fix this at the same time

I just bought a 97 Ranger Ext Cab 4WD 5spd 4.0 Lifted 6" with 33s on it. It currently has the stock 3.73 gearing on it,and its terrible IMHO. What gearing should i be running?
