Was starting to work on finishing the wiring and one thing that's been bugging me and I'm not sure what plan makes most sense.

I kept the chassis wiring harness in the jeep because it has the fuel pump relay and the starter relay, but I'm wondering now if I should bypass all of that and put in a new box just for those circuits and just not use the original wiring at all to run the jeep. I can thin it out then just to keep some of the lights if I want to, but I think that it would make everything cleaner and easier. Any downsides to doing it that way that I'm not thinking of?

Lean and clean is good. Makes troubleshooting and repairs much easier, especially in the field.

That was my thought as well, no digging around a loom, just two relays and two fuses and call it a day. engine management is all standalone, accessories like lights and radio are on a separate one as well. Converting to a push button ignition. Just my inexperience makes me nervous that I'm forgetting something critical.

You'll remember, eventually.

Is the passenger side idler pulley smooth?

If so that is strange to have the ribs running on it.

Yes, that's the stock one. The alternator and PS pump have been moved around on the driver side

My goal is to do a little something every day, even if it's really little. Yesterday that meant getting a couple things done before the kid's tae kwon do

got the steam line hooked into the radiator

New steering box came in from Redhead steering gear, curious to see how well it works vs a PSC box. Price was MUCH better. This is their rock crawler mode with ports for hydro assistl, but they've got stock replacements as well

Going to mount my psc reservoir to the back of the strut tower, it's almost vertical. Just a little concerned about the lines between everything but I should have a decent amount of space

Yes!! Don't beat your kids. Pay someone else to do it! Also, teach them discipline.

I got to yellow belt before my parents ran out of money. I loved going to TKD though. 😍

The kids love it and I love it for them. Some discipline, some exercise, all great stuff. Our place is great because they don't crush you with the belt test fees and everything else.

Got the new steering box in, need to find a local place to make me some new high pressure lines. Fit in really nicely though. My atlas stuff should be here today, but my shifter is delayed now for another two weeks.

Started getting the wiring finished this weekend, all my sensor connections were in but the harness does have some basics like 12v power, a few grounds.

Decided to rip out the gauge cluster to make room for the handheld engine management thing and the ignition/fuel pump./efan relay controller

Ended up with this to control the motor and those couple of circuits that aren't controlled by it. Will have a push button start, separate switch for the fuel pump and the efan. The Holley harness will start/stop the fan with a ground trigger based on the engine temps, first time I've used a system like that and I'm slightly skeptical, but we'll see

I banged up my hand on saturday doing some yard clearing, so it was slightly slower going than I would have liked, but I got the relays wired, just need to hook up the outputs and i'll be ready to test fire the motor.

I assume this is what rusty sees in his nightmares

The relay/fuse box will be going on the firewall just to the right of the battery. Then I'll start hooking up the final power connections and will be ready to see if it fires

I can't for the life of me find a lower radiator hose that works, might end up sucking it up and getting a flexible hose. Trying to decide where to mount my power steering cooler as well, will likely pull out the radiator and mount it behind the grill.

I need to make an actual to do list now getting closer...so much stuff to get done still
