Pitter-patter, let’s get at ‘er.
Hey guys I’m looking for an intake hose assembly for my 94’ 4.0 .. mine is damaged and I can’t seem to find one.. I don’t think the 3.0 will fit and I wasn’t really looking to upgrade there yet.
If I can’t find it to replace.. what do you guys think I should do in the mean time?

Hey Purps, it's same as the one on my 93 too, and it's had foam tape wrapped around both ends for forever. You can buy (this was 6, 8, or 10 years ago ?) them in a package deal from Ford, the end seals AND the intake tunnel in a package, it was like $212 when I found a dealership who's parts desk could locale it, I should still have the numbers here if you want to look them over

Haha good luck finding one.

I was able to make mine seal by wrapping electrical tape around the tears in the pleats. I put some RTV under the rubber end seals where they rubbed through. That may get you going a little longer.

Best suggestion I can come up with is get a universal or prefabbed CAI kit and some silicone connectors and just replace the tube keeping the original air box as it is already piped in as a Cold Air Intake.

Thanks guys for all the help! I am going to start my tear down process on Saturday for a lot of things... I just bought a ton of maintenance parts for it this morning ($1000 worth) then hopefully by the first we will be back in business! I need to figure out the lack of power I am having and I think the Intake hose needs to be addressed first.

I agree with you that the air intake tube should be addressed first. With it being cracked it lets unmetered air in causing a lean situation across all cylinders which will cause a lack of power especially if the fuel trim can not compensate enough.

RTV/electrical tape/liquid electrical tape/butyl tape are my go to's for those cracked hoses. Whatever is on hand and it depends where the crack is and how big it is. You don't want to suck in a big blob of RTV if the crack is big enough.

Big piece of shrink tubing would work too if you can get it in a size that fits.

Or do like me and part out a bunch of trucks & hoard parts so that you have a stockpile to raid in times like these.

Eventually I will build up a small stock pile of vehicles... my wife just recently made me get rid of most of them.... fuckin California code enforcement.

Hey Josh...I don't think so ... but then again I am not sure exactly what you're talking about ;brownbag;
Do you perhaps have a reference? I will def take a look thru my Ranger totes.

Usually when I go to the yard I look for things that I think I, or others, might need down the road, I stick to my Gen 3 though. I feel another trip coming up soon.

The air intake, there is a gasket or boot that goes on each end to seal it.
I have a copy of it from the Ford house but not sure ATM where it might be

Mine had been cracking but I added hvac aluminum tape and that's been holding up better than electrical tape. It should afterall since it's for high heat applications .
