seriously? a late 70s full size chevy compared against a mid 80's small size ford ranger... apples to oranges.. put that 78 chevy up against a comparable full size 78 ford and see where you get. Or put it a same year S10 against the ranger... also similarly equipped engine wise and see how it goes.
I do know that a 97 Chevy S10 extended cab w/ the 4.3 has more power than my 97 Ranger supercab w/ the 4.0, but I got more torque where I need it. I would probably be able to outpull him in a mud pit, but would probably lose my lunch in an all out drag race.
