A very... very... sad turn of events... :/

If you can avoid having it go through insurance... My parents are out here, and I have all the parts minus a fender you can have for nothing. Have the light assembly, bumper, etc. Should be able to straighten out the core support fairly easily. My parents are driving back either end of February or middle of March if you can wait that long. Then all you need is a fender. Let me know man, want to help a brother out! :icon_cheers:

Thanks. I filed the claim and figured that it would efinately be best to go thru insurance. Either they fix it (would be GREAT lol), or they give me some cash and i get the truck and 90% of it (from what i hear anyways). I dont see how not going thru the insurane company would help me any, if it means instead of getting some moey at least, i have to do it all on my own. I shouldnt get too bad of a turnout since im not at fault and the other persons being truthful about it all.

I really apreciate the help and will definately keep you guys posted on whats happening. Unfortunately atm i have to play the waiting game

Got bored so i went outside and took yet another look at the truck... Looks sooo sad and brokeded...

Lol but anyways i popped the hood and noticed that the box on the drivers side front of the engine that hold the washer fluid and coolant, is broken. Fender and stuff was pushed back into it causing that the break as well. It didnt look like anything else was broken tho, and i did drive it a good 5 or 6 blocks to get it home with it running perfect (aside from turning lol).

If anyone happens to be running through Moose Jaw sometime, it would be cool if someone that actually knows somethin about this stuff could quickly look it over. I'm just sketched out about buying it back when (if) they write it off, no1 wants a broken truck thats not worth fixing because it needs too many crucail things. And, of course, i've got the whole "noticing everything else is wrong in some way thing" thats most likely all in my head lol.

Don't you think you're getting a bit too worked up about some minor damage?

Wow, last night I wrecked the opposite corner, but didn't hit somebody else. I slid right into a dam tree, wow was it a hard it.

Huh... crazy. Grew up in Assiniboia. Parents still live there. I can get you the parts no problem if they decide to write it off. Even a fender, though the body line won't match... it'll fit. I have a whole parts Explorer, let me know what you need. PM me if you want, we'll talk there.

Im not worked up as much as bummed. And scared of keeping it and fixing it with my own cash if something big that makes it not worth fixing turns up. This is my first vehicle, i have big plans for it and love driving it. It astounded me what it could do as a stock 20+ year old truck. Im not freakin out, just bummed and sketched a bit.

Thanks i really apreciate that :) Maybe they will fix it for me though and i wont need to go through any work at all, how great would that be! lol I most likely wont know anything about what they are going to do untill the 22nd though.

I wouldnt be to suppressed if they total it, but then again you might get lucky lol. I have a neighbor who has a 1990 subaru, its been totalled twice at $2500, each time he bought the car back for $150 and fixed it for very little ( like $300-400) and had it back on the road ( did all the work himself) and actually pocketed most the money lol.

So you never know, it may be a blessing in disguise if they do total it.

Ya i was thinking that. And it sounds like it will likely happen somewhere along those lines anyways. At the very least its getting rid of the little nicks that i would want done with eventually anyways lol. The bumper was a rust bucket painted over anyways, was starting to chip off. Stuff like that. Problem is it obviously wont look as good being different colours and stuff lol

What sucks though is i dont have any of the stuff to do it im pretty sure. Not to mention i havent done anything like it before. Cant think of anyone i know that would either. So ill wait and hope they just do the easier thing for me and fix/paint it all up nice. If not i will have to get the parts and see what i can manage up to get them installed. I kinda think it would be better to have it totaled off so i can get a bit of experience with this stuff. I dont even know where the bumper is attached to the frame :yahoo:

Yet...

Usually have the value of the truck is as high as they go.

Seems a bodyshop can't even pull a truck in the door without hitting $1k.

My straight as a pin '85 was totaled in '01 for 12 light hail dings in the hood.

All I wanted was a hood... even a used one. :bawling:

It isnt my fault and she was truthful and nice about it. Sweet little girl... i felt real bad for her... She was in tears. No injuries, just the shoch of her baby getting smashed and it being her fault. :/ I left out the part of her not stopping fully for the stop sign, didnt see a need to make things worse for anyone. She did slow down, if anything this will make her ALOT more cautious.

OK well no offence but.... you probably screwed yourself out of getting anything out of this and will infact probably have to pay through the ass to fix her car.

I have been screwed TWICE by "nice" people, first time the girl was nice but her father was the BIGGEST F**K WAD ever and had it not been for the fact that it was blatently her fault I would have had to pay. and second time was a lady who seemed nice and said it was her fault to me but as soon as the cops showed she was like ITS HIS FAULT!!!!! and started mentioning all of this stuff that I didn't even do and I ended up paying about 5000$ for her lawer and the court hearing ect. ect.

DON"T trust girls! they may cry and act innocent but you will more then likely get screwed and she more then likely did not learn any lesson.

No, we called the cops and one came down and went thru all this. I have her in a few classes i've had, shes a decent chick. Was in tears because she knew it was her fault and her car was wrecked. But she told the story exactly how it went both when our parents came by and when the cop finally arrived. All the info was taken down by the police and i got a little panflet thingy telling me how to do this sort of thing. In the back had all her info including stuff like her drivers license number and everything. No way i can get screwed over this. I wasnt just like "DAMN! Your kinda hot... How about you let me take you out and we call it even?" :P

She is totally at fault and is taking full responsibilty for it. And im lucky as hell it just happened to be with someone responsible enough to not try and screw me over. That was the only reason you had behind me getting screwed right? lol

Sorry to hear that. Ya i figured that is how this is going to go. Couldnt you have just bought the truck back and got a new hood with the other 90% of what they gave u or whatever?

I did, still got the slightly dented hood too. :icon_thumby:

I think they paid me $1700 for it, bought it back for $300... not bad for a $1200 truck.
