What would I hook it to? The white one I mean.

If you have a similar harness to my 88 2.0 (which you probably do) there is a connector somewhere near the washer fluid box with about 8 or 9 wires connecting to the horn, headlights, and parking lights...

The Red/Light Blue is for your head lights...you can connect it to that or the parking lights...check a Haynes manual for your model year if not sure...I have one but have never looked at the 2.9...

OH, forgot to mention...BE VERY careful when handling that connector because if it's anything like mine, wires may break off very easily because they are almost 30 years old...

I've recently had to replace that connector with a trailer hitch light connector...two of them, actually, because I could only find them with 4 wires...

Ugh, what TF was I thinking...lol...

If you connect it to the head lights it will only work when you turn the lights on...DOh!

Best bet would be to wire it directly into the fuse box...unless you've heard otherwise...

Not meaning to be a thread-jacker, but I've got a 98 3.0 and I know a lot of them if not all of them came without tachs. I really need one, so how would I go about installing one? Is it even possible?

Yes you can. I did one and I went to kragen and got mine. the instructions are really easy to follow. I just had to read them a couple times to understand them.lol

I hooked it up last night and now the backlight comes on but the tach doesnt work...? I'm thinkin that it blew a fuse?

Ok so how much did it cost you and what did it have to hook up to?

When you buy the tach it comes with everything. But there is a red splice thing that came with min e and i broke the plastic. But everything with the extra splicers i paid 30 bucks ish.

Black was a ground so negative on bettery or just a chassis ground,
Green went to the negative side of the coil (that's what the splice thingy is used for)
White goes to the light switch so I rigged it to the fuse.
Red goes to a fuse that is hot when the ignition is on.(Use a test light)

Then your ready to go. Mine was made by equis I blieve but i havent had any problems with it.

Time to rejuvinate an old thread. Can I see pics of where you mounted yours and wiring connections? Also where/how did you get the wires through the fire wall? I have gotten one for my 84 B2 and am trying to decide where to put it. I got an Equus like yours and mine has a semiround base like it would go on the steering column real well. Thanks in advance
Wes

I had 5" one on my column, good place for it. single short screw in to the column plastic, never moved. You even can still see most of the speedo

I put mine on the corner of the dash by the door, and screwed it in.As for the for the wires there should be a rubber bromit right behind the throttle body. just push the wires through.
