Project 4x4 Commuter Mazda

Your a clever one :icon_thumby:

I'm a bigger fan of Powertrax's No-Slip, Me and my dad have never had good luck with Detroits.

Black lug nuts in the mail. No where local had them, or could get them, or even know they existed :icon_rofl:

I need to go wheelin somewhere now so I can put up a new profile pic.

i kinda like the chrome lugs, just get a chrome center cap..

Sorry too late :dunno:

all good. lol. your truck, your choice..
i'm sure i'll like the black to. wrapped in those tires they could be purple and i don't think it'd matter :icon_rofl:

Haha very true. The KM2 is a bitchin tire, along with Toyo Mt's, and Goodyear Kevlars. Those are my top three favorites.

We'll see what kind of tread life I get out of all 6.

Speaking of which, does anybody know the rotation pattern for six tires?

the new general grabbers are great to!
they do awesome on trails, street, and rocks.. and pretty dang decent in mud. not as good as the km2 in mud but for what i do, i think i might get the grabbers.

Oh yeah! I totally forgot about those. My buddy has a set on his prerunnered Taco and he has nothing but good things to say about them.

So I revise my list to:
BFG KM2
Toyo MT
General Grabbers
Goodyear Kevlars
:icon_cheers:

Lol 800th post

you have a 25 page build thread and only 800 post??? wow...lol
that's about the list i think of to but there's no way i can afford toyo m/t's... and i like the grabbers more than km2's except for mud..

Price list for upcoming mods:

$300 for junkyard 31 spline 8.8
$25 leaf spring perches
$50? misc brakeline stuffs
$238 Yukon D35 4.56 gears
$236 Yukon Master install kit
$261 Yukon Ford 8.8 4.56 gears
$114 Yukon master install kit
$450 Ford 8.8 31 spline Open carrier/trak-lok No-Slip
$600? Labor to install gears (haven't actually called the place yet)
$50 for misc stuffs, gear oil etc

Keep in mind I want to try and get what I can used.

But grand total for this list is $2334. Ouch.

Might get a little back if I sell my old 8.8, locker etc.

just so you are aware, most places are going to charge A LOT more than 600 to install 2 gear sets. Most places wont even do that for one set of gears. Id expect more along the lines of 1-1500 for gear install.

you seem like a smart guy, start doing a lot of reading and research, there are a number of us that can guide you through the process of install. I can install both sets in a ranger in a day, no problem.

start by reading this....

yeah thats what I figured, like a said I haven't called around to see what kind money it would cost to have it done somewhere.

My thoughts are:

A) Would it be cost effective to buy the correct tools, and do it myself (and have another marketable skill under my belt).

B) Or have it done and save me the weeks of prepping, reading up and late nights in a sweat thinking about whether I did it right or not.

I'm sure I could do it, if I had the time and the tools, but both are in short supply.

Ooo thats what I like to hear.

I know a few people in my area that would possibly do the same thing in exchange for tractor/grade-work, irrigation system install, or fencing (all things I do as a side business with my dad).

as far as tools go, all you need is access to a press, inch-pound wrench, torque wrench, and a dial indicator.
