Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

looks great kyle! maybe look into a cheap full-size 8.8 31 spline? they can handle 37" Tires!

or just buy spacers for the rear!

Right now I have 2" spacers per side in the rear, adaptors really. The front axle is 65" wide and the rear is 59", but with the spacers(2") you can't hardly even tell. I have a lead on a FW 8.8 right now, so that my be the plans. If I go that rought I will have to redrill the axles for my pattern, 5.5x6.

Damnit. I had a chance of hanging with ya when you were narrowed on air shocks.

You just pwned me by going full width. :thefinger:

well, you do have the doubler and he doesnt.... well, not yet. lol

Ha, bout time the master got it:D

Got a little work done tonight, don't look like much, but they are my new sliders. 2x6 .187 wall and 2x2 .187 wall. I am planning on using all that new found 'space' to hold some compressed air. Think I might skin the bottoms just to be sure I don't mess em up right away.

what was wrong with your old sliders? And do you have any pics from the back tire looking forward so I can see what its like with full width in front and spacers in back?

KYLE!!! I want your old sliders!! DIBS!!

He dem installed those old sliders on another ranger already.

I am tossing around the idea of an exo cage and I wanted something that would help make a more solid foundation for one. That is the only reason for the change, but this is the style I really wanted from the start. I just made the other ones because I had the material.

I will get a picture for you in the day light, but really it looks fine, a little wider but hardly noticeable.

Sorry! CTB2 is right, a buddy of mine already inherited them, but I could make you a set if you want some just like what I had.

DAMN! How much a set of those run me?

As much as I would like to build them for you, you might be better off just buying these ones, good rpice too IMO

I would be about that price or less depending on what material cost, not looking to get rich off it but DOM or HREW is about $75 a stick on the low side and it would take at least one stick, prolly a little more.

You could just make the sliders from 1-1/4" schedule 40. That is a 1.66" OD, with a wall thickness of 0.140". Its really plenty strong esc for just sliders. That is what I have always made my stuff from and has always held up to all the abuse I could give it.

ASTM A500 grade B

Min yield strength is 42,000 psi, tensile strength is 58,000 psi.

food for thought and is usually around $35-40 a 20 ft stick.
