These three (to me at least) appear to have evolved into actual production cars, or at least took a lot from their appearance. The purple one up top looks like it evolved into the 2nd generation Probe. The green one looks like one of the final versions of the Escort, the ZX2. And the yellow one looks like the 3rd generation of the Taurus.

agreed!

That indy-go thing is kinda like the Plymouth Prowler...

i thought it was the prowler when i first saw...

I've noticed Ford affiliated companies (and Ford itself) sell their concepts after 15-20 years at a time, keeping some for keepsake items, but overall, its like the only branch company that makes profit off of them. Why do other companies just destroy them? These cars cost literally MILLIONS!

Ever seen one up close? I did, my dad had been picked up in one a while back from my aunt's house when on vacation in NJ. He said it had extremely bad suspension and was uncomfortable.

Here is the 1999 Ford Ranger Concept I found that sold at the International Auction in 2004:

the prowler? yeah i've seen them up close, never been in one though...

they actually aren't a chrysler vehicle in truth... it was invented in some guy's backyard, the origonal one had no gas pedal, no brake pedal, and no steering wheel... it also had a high powered v8...

the dude that invented it wanted a sporty roadster, but he was a paraplegic or something? and didn't have the use of his hands or feet, so he had a 4 post joystick deal on the center console he kinda layed his hand on, and strapped it in, then pushing forward was the throttle, back was brakes, and left and right was steering... i'll try to find some sauce...

Ford Mustang Wagon:

this one was actually built by a former employer of mine...frank reisner, founder of intermeccanica international,as a prototype for ford to production test.they didn't go through with it,his wife drove one of them as a grocery getter for a while in turin, italy.he also did the mustang convertibles in the late 70s/early 80's when they were modifications of hardtops, not production cars on the regular line.

Why do most concept vehicles have really weird custom tread patterns?

Conceptual tires for conceptual vehicles, I would imagine. Not only good promo for the car manufacturer, but also for the tire manufacturer.

If Ford ever put this into production, I'd guarantee I'd be the first in line to buy one!! Wouldn't care how many loan sharks I'd have to visit to get the $$

At a Ford offroad driving event at Dolphin's stadium probably back in 2001-2003 timeframe when the Escape was just being introduced a family member won a ride along in that concept! Group of 5 people at the event and the one woman wins the ride out on a dirt track they had set up for all the Ford trucks. They got airborne in that thing multiple times! Back before pocket camera's and digital was common so I don't really have any pics.... shame.
