Picture diary of a 4X4 RCD to Dixon Brothers LT Conversion

Why couldnt you use a 5.0 from a 2000 or 2001 explorer? They used that motor up to 01.

I am not ruling that option out. It would be the easiest swap. However, I am guessing that those are going to be increasingly difficult to find.

New concept keeping me up at night. Build a fully caged 95-01 5.0 V8 Explorer with my parts. Everything but the glass should transfer over with a bit of work, 4 seats, and 302 power without the associated PATS and smog certification issues:D

sounds like an idea to me, i like the explorers...the room would be nice

What happened with truck? Did you build an explorer?

I love the way the bed cage for shock mounts was designed!!!

An Expo build is still in the plans. It has been nearly 2 years since the accident and I have yet to get things settled out with the insurance. With the statute of limitations about to kick in, I was forced to file lawsuit papers. Hopefully that will move the process along. Thanks for the compliment. It worked really well and left me a majority of my bed to work with.

Just read through all 9 pages and was getting so into in, then it gets totaled. Sorry about your truck, even though it was 2 years ago. I can't believe things still haven't been settled with insurance. What ever happened to the truck?

Sounds like it's about time to bust some knee caps! Those male-member suckers need to pay what is fair.

UPDATE! I received my settlement payment last week. I am picking up a '99 SOHC Explorer this weekend. Picked up Fiberwerx 7" Expo bedsides last week. Getting excited to start a new build.

Wow it took that long! Im shocked. I totally forgot about this thread. That explorer should be pretty cool.

27 months plus. I had to file court papers to get the insurance to raise their offer. First settlement offer was $5,000 with a &1,000 buy back fee. I ended up settling for $14,500 and retained the truck.

Sucks that you had to wait that long, but at least you got a fair amount (if the lawyer didn't suck up too much of it).

I was fortunate in the fact that the lawyer took his cut out of the injury claim and represented the property damage portion for free. I did spend roughly $1,000 of settlement amount in court and appraisal fees. So in reality I cleared about $13,500.
