Picture diary of a 4X4 RCD to Dixon Brothers LT Conversion

Last Sunday was not the best of days. I took my truck out to return a couple of videos and was hit by a driver making an illegal left turn. I have not received the final word from the insurance, but I believe that the truck is totaled. Here are some pictures of the aftermath:

oh $HIT. sorrry dude, time to build it bigger and better! keep your chin up.

Some fvcking people... that sucks Quasi, hopefully it's not a complete right off.

Dude, that is a major bummer. You're truck was truly awesome, I wanted to build one like yours someday. if you do build it back up you should move out of Tucson with all its crappy roads. Was it a U of A student :thefinger:? Just messing tho. I hope you're ok and anybody else who might've been with ya.

Damn sorry man, saw this on DR and didn't realize it was your truck. Plans?

hate to see a wreked truck man but if they try to total it make sure you have all recipts of all mods and customization youve done. that happen to a buddy of mines old 65 chevy truck 2 days after he got a $8000 custom paint and body work and the insurance company gave him the value plus the expense. good luck

Oh man that sucks, I'm sorry. Ive been following your build for a while and I want to build mine similar to yours. It is sad to see it like this. I hope you can bring it back to life or at least salvage as much of it as possible and start again.

brutal!!
buddy was prolly too busy staring at your sick 'runner to notice he was gonna crash into you!
Other than d/s knuckle/lca/axle/brakeline and fender, what's the the total damage? Forgive my ignorance, but isn't some damage like this somewhat expected in a high-speed, desert thrashing rig?

I feel like the first time I get my truck in the air, the outcome is gonna be nasty, whether or not the truck was hillbillyed together in my shitty garage!! and when i blow out one of my sketchy radius arms or an axle shaft, or both + more damage, I'll just try again. Also since i don't plan on telling my insurance company that the truck is worth one cent more than the $1250 i paid for it

Desert trucks are built to take abuse, but not a direct side impact on the front wheel. The biggest problem with the impact that I took is that it buckled the frame. You might be able to stretch it back out on a frame machine, but it would never be as strong or run as true. The insurance decided that it was a total loss, but has been painfully slow in offering a settlement.

hey man i feel with you.i think if someone whouldt hit my truck like this....i dont want to think about that, i dont wan´t in jail ;-)

in my opinion that was the truck with the most potential here, my favorit. maybe again in the future.

love to built a truck like yours but the nearest desert from me is the sahara ;-)

if you like reading built threads like me check my story ( http://explorer4x4.de/viewtopic.php?t=7056&start=0 ).

best wishes and greetings from germany

Thanks for the well wishes. I just hired an attorney to fight the case since insurance does not want to offer a fair settlement. The truck will likely be tied up in litigation for the next few months. I have another member on here that has expressed interest in buying the truck for his project. I am also toying with the option of moving everything to a fresh frame and adding an LS V8. I was originally planning on a 302 swap, but Arizona just passed a law requiring engine swaps to be from the same model year or newer. Since Ford moved to the modular (wide) format in early 2001, it is unlikely that I will be able to find a donor vehicle for a 302 swap.

how much lift do you think it measured out to afterwards? Im thinking of getting this kit but would have to do stages and was wondering if you think you could fit the 35's with just the glass and maybe 2in of suspension lift?

And sorry about the truck man, it was super sick

I have seen posts where people have fit 35's with glass and 0" lift, so it can be done. If I were to guess, I would say that I had roughly 4+" lift total (2" LT kit and 2" from over sized tires).
