I have munual locking hubs and the shifter on the floor.
So my first question is about the shifter. Sometimes when driving i think it seems to slip back into 2wd. and when i quickly checked it out to see how much resistance there need to be to push into 2wd, it slipped in real easy. So does anyone know how i can stiffen it up to stay in 4x4hi untill i choose to put it back to 2hi? It works fine and very rarely slips out, just wondering.
Another thing. Will switching in and out of 4hi and 2hi alot wear it out alot faster or wreck anything? Right now where i am we just got alot of snow so the roads are crap. But staying in 4x4 costs alot more money. So what i have been doing is (with hubs locked) keeping it in 2hi and driving untill i start to loose some control, have to park/pull out of deep snow, have trouble getting going on ice, or even if i needed to squeeze thru traffic faster lol. And after im going a bit i would take it out and put back in 2hi (usually when shifting to 3rd). Does this wear out anythign fast?
Any suggestions on either of the above would be great. Thanks
