exactly.

on the gt they are a little shorter, but it's the same idea.since the covers are an add-on,i'll be focusing on them later,i only really started them when i did because i was short on metal for other things.

so the front area of the hood is tacked together now,but it's by no means anywhere close to being done.

i got some mounts roughed in for the hood hinges-i need to get the hood mounted so i can determine the clearances for the part that goes around the carbs.
i want this to fit as tightly as practical around the carbs, but also need to know exactly what arc the hood needs to swing as it opens so everything will clear.
these hinges are the trunk hinges from the bmw,and have an advantage in that they initially lift more upward before starting to swing forward.this will allow me to fit the hood tighter to the back of the carbs without it swinging into the float bowls.

here they are in the opened position.i will need to make a tubular framework to give some strength to the hood assembly -it had one originally but it was not suitable for what i'm doing, nor in good enough shape to bother using.i'll use 1x1x.063 square tube to build it from.

This is my favourite part of any build, creative re-purposing.

I'd hate to see its angry face

ya,when i first looked at those hinges i figured they would work well for this purpose.getting them to clear everything wasn't so easy, though as they are quite long and take up a lot of space as they swing open.it cuts into my rad space and alternator space some, but i'll get those figured out.

even Frankenstein shouldn't piss off his monster, especially when its got a v12 under the hood

the hood bracing is shaping up....square tube is pretty quick to work with.

and openned.it'll be nice to access the underhood area by openning the hood instead of removing it and trying to find somewhere to put it.

now when you run out of gas all you have to do is raise the sail and hope the wind is blowing the right direction

i'll just go which ever direction the wind is blowing:D

that only works for so long, particularly when you live on an island
