disciplerocks's Ford Focus "build" thread

i have the 2.0, im pretty good at one off stuff so im planning on running an m90 i got laying around, until the motor goes, then im thinking a 2.3 dura from a ranger with forged internals and a rwd conversion. its not my dd so i just wanna see whats up. if you can swing it Massive has about the best strut bar i have seen. i have their giant rear bar and im wanting the front one but i already have an old focussport on on my car so ill leave it for awhile. i hate my eibachs so i think i may do kw coilovers.

Wow, really an M90? A bit of overkill isn't it. The SVT uses an M62. And if you are going RWD why go 2.3? Seems like a waist to me. Either throw in a 2.3 Focus motor, or go bigger.

And yes Massive has some badass stuff. And Karl is one hell of a guy too.

Here is a little something I started working on today.

that is one mean looking little street fighter! one of my ex gf's had a 400+ hp srt4 neon... that thing was too much fun to drive, if you could keep the front wheels from spinning... damn 18's and lo-pros...

^Yeah. I'll be making some traction bars next.

Got a bit more done today. Cut, notched and bent the rear two bars and did a mock up of the main bar to help align the rear two.

Took off the lip that was preventing me from installing and painted it black.

you are going to drive a supercharger with a used bonded pulley?:icon_surprised::icon_surprised::icon_surprised::icon_surprised::icon_surprised:

is there a fluid dampner type thing or other high performance aftermarket pulley for it? i suggest waiting till you get forged internals, and do a solid crank pulley that is balanced to 12 k or so with all of the rest of the rotating assembly, and have at least one extra flywheel done at the same time, two if you can afford it.

looks like a recipe for disaster to me using a rattle can rebuild pulley in a high performance application...:dunno: i mean , 15 psi aint no joke bro.

Got it put together today. Ran out of wire. A little more welding, a little grinding, and some paint. I wish I had more than an hour of light after I get off work.

Don't forget the shiny red spray paint! It makes it go faster, really it does.

Not sure what you mean. The pulley is off another vehicle, I just had to do a little modding to make it fit my car.

a used crank pulley.....bonded pulley at that.... driving a supercharged application?

not a real good scenario ime.

and its potentially overdriving the other accesories unless you changed those pulleys to compensate..which isnt too big a deal regardless really.

i assume your building the engine with forged goodies, and that is why i posted what i did above.

Again, what do you mean bonded pulley? And yes forged internals are sitting in the shed waiting to go in, along with my aluminum flywheel. And I have a prototype aftercooler that I am going to be a guinea pig for coming my way soon.

Its getting painted black. Don't like a lot of flashy colors. And everything on the Focus is silver and black.

Done. Waiting on paint to dry.

By bonded, I believe he is talking about the rubber dampening material. If this material were to give way, it could be pretty messy at a high rpm. This happened to my sister in laws Pontiac Montana. It busted some stuff (can't remember exactly what it was) and shredded the belt, which was quite messy.

I do like your car though. The black on black photos are nice....and I usually hate black rims. I have the 2.3 in my Escape and it's got a lot of pull up in the higher rpms (2500 and up). It's quicker than my Ranger!

BTW, how big of a pain was the metal intake to install? Mine is plastic.....that scares me being at the front of the car. I always think if it were to get hit up there, it would break and suck plastic fragments into the motor.

Oh I don't have the CAI anymore do to the supercharger, but it was a cheapy Ebay one and pretty straight forward to install.
