Tears in my Eyes

First off, glad to see your OK.

If it was my truck I'd fix it even if it took years to do. An Fx4 like that is irreplaceable. There are plenty of frames out there if it's bent too bad. My buddy once got drunk one night and flew down a farm path into a ditch head on in a three month old 1987 Reg. Cab long bed 5 speed 4X4. Bent the frame all to hell. His dad bought it back from the insurance company and got a local body shop to straighten the frame. Overall he paid less than what Ford wanted for the truck new. Made out like a bandit.

It would be a lot easier to buy a running driving truck and swap the axle, shifters, t-case, rear axle and rims on it.

Glad to see you're okay WNY. Sorry to hear about your Level II brother. Thank the Lord you and your passenger were able to walk away from it.

yeah sounds like a good idea.

its even possible to swap the whole interior, since the FX4 has black dash and panels

well the insurance adjuster looked at it , they found deer crap on the frame so they are covering it under comp , adjuster thinks it is fixable , but they are having a hard time finding a truck to compare it to to make the determination if it is totaled or not , so still playing the waiting game

if you like, i can get you a running 4.0 with frame and all essentials, no body parts. sport 4x4 for 800 bucks. it would be a few hours drive to come get it though.

oh and p.s. the engine and frame are an 08 with 8,000km on it.

I could fix that in 2 days if I had the parts... It isn't that bad from looking at the pics..
In Ga they will allow book value + 10 percent.. after that it is deemed a total loss...

Well , i have an Update , the insurance is willing to cover repairs up to $7800 , they gave us an estimate of ~$7500 to get it fixed , it is getting towed to a body shop that is run by a guy that worked with the guy we took all our paint work to (he closed up shop in october of 09) , according to the estimate the frame is gonna have to be straightened , i had the option of them totaling it and cutting me a check for $10,175 , then i could buy the truck back , but it would have a salvage title and i do not want it having that , so we are having it fixed , i am very lucky they did not total it , so hopefully by springtime she qill be back , good as new

Congrats on not totalling it. I still would have taken the salvage title and the extra 3 grand. It's not like chicks climb into the truck and say "This rig is sexy, I'm gonna BJ you , by the way is it a salvage title."

well , the thing is , with the extra $3,000 , first there is $1,000 - $1,250 to buy it back at most , drops me down to $1750 , then $250 for a NYS Salvage Inspection drops me to $1500 , then $50 to get the Salvage title drops me to $1450 , so in the end i do not see a point in having this truck marred for life with a salvage title for an extra $1450 in cash , not even enough to pay for half of my tuition for one semester

good call man! i hope she gets fixed soon. and please get a brushguard lol

in most states you can get the salvage part removed from the title if you prove it's been restored to factory specs

Just an over priced Ranger, but cool to get those things already in place!! But with the high milage the cost to buy it back for salvage should be cheap!!!
