Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

Went to Ocotillo Wells yesterday for some break in wheeling, and wow. I am super pleased at how well the truck is doing. Didn't have any problems with binding or limiting, other than the rear tire came up once. 4 hi pretty much sucks, but 4 lo did great. only aired down to 20 psi so it would still spin out in deep sand, but I am very pleased overall. Here are the pics....

still waiting on James from RLC Fab out of Louisville to get back to me. I am trying to get him to build me a custom setup since I have the old style frame with the new style front end.

Also need to change out my springs on the CO's. Most likely going to drop to a 200 over 300 set.

nice rig! i wish i had that terrain to play in :P

looks great man, but yea those co's look WAYYY too stiff. As much travel as you posted in previous pictures that your setup is capable of, looks like youre hardly taking advantage of it.

How is it on the road with any bumpsteer? Thinking of using that steering setup

my thoughts exactly...

its good. I drive it to work everyday 22 miles each way. it needs a swaybar though.

it only has 4.56's. didn't want to give up my freeway speed. 4lo works phenomenal though

what spring rate are you using for the front?

300/450

Way too stiff. Looking at going with a 250/300 first, if that is still too stiff, than 200/250

well, i did the 64 inch spring swap yesterday. Finished it, but not pleased. The 64" springs moved the axle back about 2", which i did not want to do. I am going to move the front hanger forward some more, that should fix this problem. The other problem is my damn blocks. They are angled, so they have some crazy big degree in them. I installed them where (Ithought) the diff would be level instead of kicked up, bad idea. They pointed the diff down so much that the drive shaft u joint is hitting the yoke. Hobby shop is closed today, so getting that taken care of tomorrow. Going to move the hanger forward Friday.

When you swapped them in did you move the front hanger at all? I moved mine forward about 6" and it worked great, tire in the same spot.

Can you just flip the block around? Was the the same one you had in before when you set you pinon angle? Oh...NM, you have a shorter block now don't ya?

I moved the front hanger just like the tech library says. moved it forward so the bottom rear hole on the front hanger lined up with the bottom front hole, then drilled three new holes. Only difference is I didn't use a longer shackle, just kept the stock one. I am changing it out Friday when i move the hanger. Only thing I can think is that when I moved it forward, I didn't keep the angle the same, so the hanger may just be "pushed back". I will try just rotating the hanger, but keep the rear hole in the same spot.

I am just flipping it around tomorrow, the hobby shop was closing as I was bolting the axle back under the truck, so i didnt have time to finish. Plus they are closed today, so I will flip them around tomorrow. The block I have is taller than the stock one.

I told ya on pirate, and even gave ya a picture! Move the top hole into where the rivet is, and you should be alright. I had the same issue with mine, I just redrilled the perch and Uolt plate and slid the axle ahead....but I have fairly crappy overly flat shackle angle.
