It on my local news today. Some Minnesota politicians went to Detroit to offer Ford tax incentives if they keep Ranger in production or if they retool for another vehicle. And Ford said no, so this Ranger will drive into the sunset in 2011.

The only mine might be going is a museam because it's so rare.
A pre-98, 2.3L, 4X4 isn't too rare. But are hard to find. A 83-85 diesel Ranger 4x4 are much harder.
Maybe Ford will bring the 4cyl 4x4 back. Since they did produce a new Explorer with a 4cyl turbo.
So let me get this right....They'll be unveiling a more mid-size truck with the 3.5L EcoBoost, rated to tow 11k lbs.
So let me get this right....
Now that Ford is the ONLY company producing a true compact pickup (out of the major manufacturers anyway), they're just going to toss it and move on to midsize?
Despite what other manufacturers say, I think that the Ranger was the reason why other mfgs did away with compact pickups - nobody else could compete with what they had to offer. Wish I had the funds to buy a couple new Rangers and mothball 'em.
