1st time in 184K and my Ranger (sort of) strands me

I was coming around the last corner before our house (not racing) but it's really icy and it's a really sharp turn so I slowed way down. Once passed the corner I went to speed up just a little bit since it's a few houses down and my gas pedal went "tunk" and went straight to the floor.

At first I thought this was just the throttle cable, which annoyed me, but when I went to examine it in my driveway it's something different all together. My gas pedal, bracket, welds, and all, FELL OFF the firewall.

My truck isn't even that rusty, in fact the only rust on it is surface stuff on the frame and some light stuff on the bottom of the doors.. The only rust on the pedal bracket is just a tiny tiny bit around the spot welds. I never even heard of this happening. I'm still in a little disbelief. Thought it was post worthy in wierdness factor.

Uber wonderful that it's 36° and drizzling here. Cold, soggy, and wet.

Well, I sure have to agree there....

I've heard of the firewall cracking underneath the clutch master, but that's the first time I've heard of an RBV dropping a pedal assembly on the floor.

Egads. I wonder what other bad welds this truck might have in store.

x2 thats easily one of the strangest occurences ive heard about on a ranger, think maybe we should ahve a wierd shit hall of fame

That happened to me before and I had to use my hand to throttle her home. I just ended up drilling through where the welds broke and used bolts and washers.

I live in California and there is no rust on my Ranger and it happened to me. This is weird. I thought I was the only one....lol

I'm at college and all my tools and spare bolts etc. are back home. thankfully my Neighbor lent me some bolts and nuts off his snowblower and a drill. I'll have to do it all again tomorrow probably since he'll kind of need them back.

What a nuisance... I'm supposed to be at work in the next 10 minutes too lol

Yea i personally dont think that its very important. I mean its not like you need the pedal attached to the fire wall to drive it. I say just let it wait until you really need it fixed.

it would be fun to learn how to throttle it with a rope! my b2 ever has the pedal fall off i will use a rope or cable for a little while just for the fun of it. imagine the looks i will get from that.

yeah, I already got it fixed though. my neighbor had to leave so I had to wait another 30 minutes or so before one of my room mates came home.

looks like I'll just be staying 2 hours later at work. good thing I have a pretty cool boss.
