New car suggestions

And you could get one with AWD! But only with an Automatic tranny, which may or may not disqualify it.

WHUHH? you can get the fusion with awd? i knew you could outfit the Taurus as such.. hmm

You bet. It also has to be a V6. It'd be a whole lot sweeter if they offered it with a manual transmission and a turbo version of the 4 cylinder, IMO.

With the Fusion you have to pick between a FWD manual with a four cylinder, or a AWD V-6 with an automatic.

Are the AWD Fusions old enough to be had for under 10K?

Another suggestion (though might be hard to find for under 10k) is a Mazdaspeed6

.

might see about a Geo Tracker or Suzuki Sidekick/XL7. depending on the year, they can be had with manual or auto. they are rear wheel drive with the 4WD transfer case in the models thru about 2004 i think. easy and fun to drive, good on gas, pretty reliable. 2 door convertible from the late 90's are fun in the summer. the 4 door models hold a fair amount. just a thought.

You can find decent AWD Fusions for under $10k. I've seen them for as little as $5,000 but they had a ton of miles on them and they were from the Minneapolis area so there probably wasn't much left besides rust. :D

Well, I looked at those two Jetta's today. The silver one is a POS that looks nothing like the photos, and has been rear-ended. The red one looks pretty much perfect, and drives amazingly, but it has a salvage title. That's definitely a disappointment.

Can be fun little cars but kinda at the opposite end of the spectrum of the sport coupe or sport sedan bill (performance and handling)

Another thought is a 3.0L Jaguar X-Type

I doubt $10k would get you much of a AWD Fusion.

The Fusion shares its platform with the Mazda6 (or vice versa)

Well, it seems that it's almost impossible to find rwd vehicles anymore, so I started looking at fwd ones. Has anyone here had any experience with a 2006 Misubishi Eclipse?

I had a 1st gen DSM (Eclipse,Talon, Laser). Common problems for the 2nd gen is crank walk when used with high hp apps. Most people swap out the 2nd gen motor for a 1st gen one.

stay away from mitsu's in my humble opinion, if you are looking at fwd now how bout an acura cl or tl ....

Yes, vice versa. The Mazda6 platform spawned something like 10 cars within Mazda Ford Lincoln Mercury
