i have a 99 ranger with a 3.0 and a 5 speed with a electric t case. i just destroyed another t case and would like to put a manual shift in this time. what years and motors should i look for?

What do you mean by destroyed the t-case? Is it just not shifting in/out of 4wd properly, or do you have serious carnage in the case? The manual t-cases aren't any stronger than the electric ones, so if you caused major damage to an electric one, you'll probably do the same thing to the manual.

and there is the million dollar question.

if you destroyed the insides, then there's probably a bigger issue. you can swap in whatever you want, or do a rebuild, which isnt too hard.
if it just wont shift then that's different.

something is wrong if your tearing up a 1354 with a 3.0

i only use the truck for pushing and pulling my derby cars around my shop. the cars are really heavy. i know its not the rite rig to do this with but its what i got so it will have to do for now. when i say i destroy the t case i mean DESTROY it. there is really no rebuilding. every once in a while i have to give the cars a good jerk to get them to go when there frame rails are on the ground. that what is doing it. the shift motor works just fine. i wanna put a manual t case in, not for strength but for convenience.

so you are useing the 4wd on a dry hard surface?????

no wonder you are destroying transfer cases....the 1354 was never meant to do that.....

you really need to think about getting a Explorer or Mountainer with the AWD case to move ya cars around with....
