the brumby build

FINALLY back on the road again. kinda

got the rear suspension all setup.

leaf packs consist of...

chevy 64 main
chevy #2
explorer #2
explorer #3
b2 #3
b2 #4
b2 #5

this 7 leaf setup netted me about 4in of lift. exactly where i was at to begin with, except this is without a block!

got brakes, but i still need to

install custom body mount
reverse shackle bolts (almost rubs a bolt head)
get driveshaft flange and conversion u joint
weld shock tab's and install shocks
set pinion angle and weld up. (mocked it just to see how this thing works)
move axle back just an in or so...
prob remove a few leaf's too.

the brumby build

this was my first leaf setup, obviously it didn't work

the brumby build

this is the rear flexed out as much as i could with only front wheel drive and no taction

the brumby build

this is the shackle angle with the 33in tire tucked in the fender about an inch

uh oh!!! the brumby is comin alive!!! i assume the 4.0 is in her now? Lookin good rob

no 4.0 isn't in yet. want to rebuild her, and i need a few things for it. ie. clutch and flywheel. this calc class is kicking my ass this summer. taking time out for the garage is tough

haha and thats why im so glad im done with college. only thing i gotta worry about is spendin enough time with the GF. one weekend away from startin the cage! BTW i had my old hangers, shackels, and perches from the ranger if they would have worked on your B2. shoulda asked!!! lol

no worries on the hangers. still got them done for cheap! now i think i'm gonna need to take the main leafs to american spring. and have the center bolt moved back an inch. and also get it re arched and a couple in shorter to help my shackle angle. since i can't move the hangers much...

when ya gonna come up and help install this 4.0?!

haha one of these days. i gotta bring my old lift off the ranger up for a buddy i use to work with at UA. that and erin has been dying to go campin up there so im sure ill bring the rzr as well. Ill let you know though! should be in the next week or two

right on!!! hopefully we will see ya then!

took the hi lift to the rear bumper brace thingy i built to support the drop brackets. stock height on the taller of the two tube's was 22 3/4in. the hi lift got a bit wobbly so i couldn't quite get the tires off the ground. but got really close! final measurement was 34 1/2in. this dials to 11 3/4 in difference!

and the shackle definitely wasn't flat. need to make some more tweaks, change my leaf pack, re arch my springs so i can get rid of the thick 2nd leaf. maybe swap a explorer leaf with a b2 leaf of the same length. (its a bit thinner).

either way, enjoy the pics

haven't quite found my answer yet, but how do i get my e brake lines to meet up with the ebrake cable on the truck. they would connect, if they weren't about 6in away from each other....

i have an idea, but it would require some fab work. thought maybe you guys would say there is an easier way

That blows. Who needs e-brake/park cables? My bronco doesn't have them. Still need to get the line lock wired up for mine though.

oh now a line lock is an idea?!?!?!

but i think i'll pick up some small diameter round stock. and use my torch to heat it up. and bend it just like the round stock part of the bracket at the bracket connection. make the new one longer and they will mate up like stock. and still allow me to adjust it like stock.. ya follow?!

in the pictures of the rear end jacked up, can't you just use shorter shackels and get the movement that you want??

also I was wondering if you was going to have the springs re-arched, they looked really flat in the one picture with no axle on it.

good work

Robert

ya the leaf's are fairly flat. i thought about using a shorter shackle. it would give me the angle i need. but, i designed the system for the 6400's so i might as well use them. i need to get new main leaf's anyways because of my center pin location. therefore i can easily have the eye to eye measurement changed to help achieve the shackle to frame angle i need
