Baumann or Transgo shift kits

Has anyone used a Baumann shift kit for an AOD?
I bought a 84 ranger with a 302 and AOD and am NOT happy with the shifts.

I am trying to decide between the Baumann or Transgo shift kits.

Let me know what you have and how hard it was to install. Thanks.

I have used them (Transgo) for the rebuild on the C-4 in the 85 ranger 4X4 and for a seal kit in the 81 F-100 when I did the motor swap.A lot of USA parts in their kits!

Whats it doing?
Shifting soft and quick at low RPM or winding a little before it shifts?You my need to adjust the linkage from the carb down to the trans to get the correct line pressure witch is very important to the life of a AOD.From what I can gather its better to be late shifting than to quick to up shift.
The kit in the F-100 came in it so I cant tell you what it is but it will snap your head back when it shifts from 1 to 2.When i get my 3.73 gears it should bark the tires!
Its running 3.42 gears right now.I'm looking for a factory 9" LS center I can rebuild so I can just change the whole works at once.

When you take off normally it shifts firm, but it shifts later in the rpm. Od doesn't kick in until 65 or so.

When you get on it, it shifts too soon though. Does that make any sense?

Sounds like the linkage is all out of whack.
Take it to a Trans shop and have them adj. it to the correct pressure.thats what I did.
Cost me around $50.
It shifts to OD around 50 mph everytime.
Do a google search on AOD adjustment and do a little reading it will help you understand how it works.

Wasnt much help but your welcome,learning about the AOD myself.

i just ordered the fairbanks posi-shift 2 stage kit for my truck i think from the same place murphy auto... ive use these in mustangs and have had good results but some other people have had bad that i know of...

with the aod i pretty much run baumann with stock v/b's and auto shift capacity for sub 400hp daily driving.

anything past that gets me on the phone with lentech.

well it turns out my throttle cable was only letting me go half throttle. I put a different one on but i didnt get time to test it out today. Im thinking this could be part of my problem. I'll keep you posted as to what I find out.
