sweet looking ride man, what did you do about your steering box when you pushed the front axle foward? im really wanting to do something very similar on my next build but just havent decided on the best way to go about it, without actually getting out there and tearing into a truck to figure it out.
 
Looking at this build, it got me wondering, using the coils is it possible to push the axle all the way to the end of the frame out front, and could you do the same on the rear using coils?:icon_idea:

I was just wondering, if some people are always saying that they need more articulation, why not use coils on the back also, IF it can be done.:icon_confused:

yes it is possible to move either axle almost anywhere you want it to change the wheel base keeping in mind driveline angles with the right knowledge and fab tools. and yes lots of rigs are setup using rear coils (newer heeps have coils in the rear from the factory) but require the use of links which must be setup very precisely for the suspension to function correctly which in many cases is more difficult than setting up a leaf sprung suspension. linked suspensions also provide better approach and departure angles as well as eliminating axle wrap.

The gear box and coil buckets are about 12" further forward of stock locations.

very very impressive to be totally honest! is that the stock ford steering box? and btw YOU THE MAN!
 
Yes its the stock box, and I reused the stock section of the frame rail for the box reloacted further forward on the frame.
 
Dang that is some sharp work, and I didn't mean to highjack your thread, just got to wondering because if the nice working your doing on this,and I don't know diddly about 4x4 setups, all I know is that the 4x4 works on my little BII.

Are you keeping this "streetable"? I was just wondering why you didn't go full hydraulic steering, especially with that size tire.

Just curious. Looking back, I should have gone full hydro from the beginning.
