I do not fault anyone "working" at Walmart, a job's a job. But I refuse to shop there, not a thing there I can't get somewhere else for roughly the same price, sometimes less.
Personally I wish they would slowly fade away so the workers and product sells could be absorbed by local businesses again.

What they did as a company helping shutter small town businesses should have been a crime. Any small town that wants a Walmart is making a pact with the Devil.

Those people didn't get to the top magically..

They worked their asses off for years and are now reaping the benefits.

:icon_thumby:

You are so full of shit. They didn't work their asses off, they road the backs of the people who did.

reading some of these posts. There is no doubt in my mind why our country is torn and in the crisis its in. Some of you are delusional, ****ing mental. Instead of taking the bad with the good and settling, you are so radical and set in your mindset.

Comments like : "I do not fault anyone "working" at Walmart, a job's a job. But I refuse to shop there, not a thing there I can't get somewhere else for roughly the same price, sometimes less.

I'd just like to know if thats the way you feel about all non-francise business's that absorb the "small guy", because i can name many more, and i bet you shop at them.

And on top of that, after living in several small towns, and currently stationed next to one, I could give two shits if Wal-Mart absorbs them, 90% of them are crooked small towners anyways that drive away any outside business or growth, and then upcharge everything.

I do most of my shopping at the PX or commissary but if it comes down to it, I rather shop at Wal-Mart than the local "market basket"

I'm sorry, but I've met the people they step on, on their way up. I'm not doubting their are hard working, upper class individuals who have made their way up on there own by hard work and diligence. But in Walmart and alot of other major corporations, they are just as bad as middle-age surf's. It's alot like that in fact. They work in the guys field, to harvest it, make the money for him, he gives them a little bit, while they have just enough to live off of, while he chills in his mansion over looking the field. Without the poorer folk, he wouldn't have anyone to work it. Everyone has this dream of being that guy in the castle, but if everyones wanting to be the CEO or King, then nothings going to get down, nothings going to grow, and no one will be fed. I'm tired of people blaming it on middle and lower class people being bitter. We aren't, we are just tired of getting stepped on.

Then if you're so tired of getting stepped on, quit your job. Tell them all to quit your job.. That'll really show them!

Im sick of people trying to bring down the rich, and blame the rich. Why are people so against being rich? I guess some people dont think they need to make their way of the ladder in life, It should just be handed to you. or you should be able to start out on top. Its a competitive job market, you have to have something to offer.

While you're at it, you should stop eating at ALL fast food businesses, stop shopping at autozone and the like, stop getting gas at big name gas stations, stop shopping albertsons, kroger, tj max, safeway ect, take your money out of your bank and start your own bank.

Excellent point......lets do away with all autopart chain and online stores........then we can go to Ford and pay $30 for a t-stat and gasket that you could of gotten for $9........ I mean why not......if the dealers have their way pretty soon you will have to pay them and ONLY THEM to read the codes on YOUR CAR

Your taking it way over the top, and its pretty annoying. I don't have problems with wealthy people. I'm middle class, live in a nice neighborhood, and are just fine. I'm friends with quite a few wealthier classed people, including gene reed, who has 5+ dealerships, and a wealth greater then most people could collect. He started out relatively low on the totem pole. He's very intelligent, very nice guy. To try and curb the idea that there aren't any bad or corrupt rich folk, is ignorant. I've met them, I work for one. Our work computers are 15 years old, we are the only dealership here that does not have AC, among other things. I've met them, and I know for a fact how they can be. Its generally the people who worked for it that aren't greedy and corrupt, its the people born into it.

Why are people so against being rich?

Jealousy. There is a reason most of those people are filthy rich. And it's not happening by going around whining and complaining about everything they dont have. They have been working at for years.

These people are rich because they wanted to be. They step on the people of the lower class because they CAN. Anyone with enough motivation and a strive to be rich will be.

If your sick of it, then go out and make yourself rich, and then you will be able to step on the lower classes, as you will do exactly that, once you get to the top.

(Not directed at you NMB2, I waas just using your quote to help show my point)

I agree with that statement.

When I can I support local small businesses. Sprawl is the biggest issue of cities and suburbs need suburban shopping, but I'd still prefer smaller strip malls over big box stores.
For smaller towns it's the go shop the big box mentality on the "new bypass" that empty the towns of businesses.

I don't begrudge AA or AZ but I shop at mostly independently owned NAPA stores.
I'll use the local Pharmacy instead of the Walmart one, the local grocery store rather than the Walmart one, the local clothing store, etc...
Some of these may still be chain stores but most are regional and at least it spreads the employment and money around rather than everyone working and spending at Wally World.

As far as small businesses absorbing others, no issue with that, free enterprise at work. It's the one stop shop Wally way of overpowering an entire community or town I have issues with.
Small shops cannot compete with them, not so much cost but mainly because of the customers leaving for one stop shopping out on the bypass. That's the pact with the devil you make when you allow Wally in.

I've made it 50+ years without shopping there, not a thing there I can't get elsewhere.

And anyone who thinks small town businesses are 90% all crooks has more issues than can be solved here.

Being rich won't get you anywhere. Having morals and knowing how to treat people will. If the ends justify the ends for you, then good luck. It will only get you so far in life. I don't have an interest in being rich. I'd rather have a paid off shack in the middle of the woods with my cars and trucks, and be comfortable. Greed is demoralizing and will turn you 180 from who you should be. All I have to say, is don't tread on me, because shit will fly out the window if you try to take advantage of me in order to further yourself in meaningless wealth. Can't take all that paper with you when you go.

Would you say Mother Teressa was RICH. ,,,,,,,,,I would..... She worked hard and spent most of her time with the poorest of the poor. ....She had everything she wanted.

"this country has grown far too lazy to earn those jobs you mentioned. That's why Microsoft can't fill them. Plus, why pay some asshole 80k a year to do a job almost as good as a guy across the pond will do it for 40k?"

Very true, but I was talking about the jobs right there in Redmond, WA. 80,000 + a year jobs going to foreign permanent residents, recruited by Microsoft, work visas arranged by Microsoft. They are not the only ones. These guys are computer programmers, design engineers, etc.... Brother in Law's company does the same thing. They cannot find enough qualified applicants here. They do find lots of people with the right degrees, but they drank their way through college and aren't as qualified as they guys coming out of the TEC in Mexico.
