changed my mind

A good substitute for the Ranger rear springs is the S-10 leafs. I used them on mine to hang the Mopar 8.75" rear.

cheap and reliable. not expensive and still have to worry about it... built ford tough but chevys like a rock not easy to break rocks haha.:thefinger:

Since when did the 4.6 you were going to use stop being a strong and dependable motor? I have experienced and seen what they can go thru, seems likes a novice opinion.

Here is some proof

That is the aftermath of a hilbillys work, you cant run 12psi boost on a PI swapped 4.6 with a factory tune and pump gas. This took 1800 miles to happen, and was driven another 80 after it started knocking, and still started and ran with 3 spun main bearings. Oh and yes that was also a stock bottom end in that motor.

Severe detonation shattered piston

Rings and metal shavings in pan

Damage to head caused by debris

Most motors I have had experiance with and have worked on I know for a fact would have not lasted as long as this one did.

Also when did the 4.6 become expensive? I just picked up a running 96 Cobra motor with 15k on it, all accy, master engine wiring harness, computer, and body harness for $600 for a customer of mine.

Just my 2 cents

At least it's a 355... so it has work done to it unlike almost every other 350 swap that I've seen/done :thefinger:

My buddy just dumped his boat anchor 350 out of his s-10 and built a cute lil 355 for it with oh say... 100 more horse than his old motor (according to him). I haven't driven down to see it yet but I heard it was a screamin machine. Apparently it helped crack the 3rd member in his 9" so I dunno if he's even fixed that yet.

Any updates btw?

no no no going slow is driving a small block ford

the stock 4.6 is a strong motor and cheap to get ahold of but to make them move i hope you got deep pockets a set of heads cost 15k... you cant run a ****in turbo with no tune and pump gas thats your detonation

You read right hes putting a 350 SBC in his Ranger. I thinks its a great idea. Better then a dodge motor, sorry for cussing there. Don't reply about me talking about the dodge motor, just leave it there.

WOW :icon_rofl: what are you smoking and where can I get some.

Here you go a set of Stage 3 ported heads from Livernois Motorsports are $2k but hey those must be no good since they are so much cheaper right?

I can pick up a set of PI heads for $100 used or just under $800 new.

A 96 GT Mustang I just did a PI swap on ran a 13.26 1/4 and a 12.98 on a 75 shot. Thats a stock motor nothing else done to it except a K&N air filter and a tune. I forgot though low 13's high 12's is slow for stock. :icon_rofl:

Really? wow never thought that might have caused it...... seriously thanks for repeating what I already pointed out. The damage was the result of someone elses work and mistakes due to lack of knowledge and experience much so as in your case. Also it was not a turbo but a vortec, unlike Fast and Furious "boost" not always comes from a turbo.

i wasnt talkin about single cam heads f*ck nuts
