Quick power out of a 2.9???


The question isn't IF you can get a 600 horse 4.0, but how long said 4.0 will be able to produce said 600 horses, without blowing it's pistons through the hood of your truck.

With enough boost, anything is possible. :)

Blowing the engine is pretty much a guaranteed eventuality on a 302 at that level too. Short of a very well engineered turbo system, a 600hp 302 is a track monster only. Realistically, you have to spin to a bare MINIMUM of 10,000 RPM to flow that much air with an n/a 302cid mill.

Not to mention a Boss block to build that much power. No way a street 302 will do that without blowing up.

if you could get a 4.0 to make one run on the dyno to prove it can make 600 horse i would be stunned.

theres a guy here who runs a Stock mustang block plus gt-40 heads plus numerous upgrades that makes 640+ horse at the wheels at just over 8000 rpm. and DD's it.

I put a lot of time into trying to HELP you out in numerous threads here. In EVERY case, you insulted me, refused to do your own work, and failed to actually read most of my (and others) posts providing information you requested.

Don't think for a MOMENT that you can continue to stay here while calling people 'asshole' etc... Your call, but the rules are there to try to keep this a reasonably civil place.

If you have a link to this forum member with a 640hp DD 5.0, I'd be interested in reading it.

seriously dude if theres anyone one this whole site i cant deal with its him. im done arguing and if he wants to post on my threads id rather him not.
as far as dyno sheet ill get a pic of it next time im at his shop. he's actually got a higher horse 302 but i dont know the spec's on it just know its more than 650, sit'in on a stand in the window of his shop. only met him once, and Fastpakr he's not a Forum member as far as i know. he specializes in fox body stangs and owns a few. he runs a performance shop here and has built some crazy fast stangs. ill take a pic of the other motor he built and his DD next time i see him, (whenever that is) and ask him what all he's done on the DD to make the power previously mentioned. PS dunno if there was a confusion there i asumed you actually thought a 600 horse 4.0 is possible, good luck with that(lol)

I have been on this site for a few years and not once have I seen fastpakr start an argument EVER. Many people have chimed in and shared good and useful information, taking time out of their day to help you FOR FREE. You need to grow up, quit whining and go out and try something, Telling someone they are wrong just because you think they are, even though you never tried the advice makes you come across as quite a d-bag IMHO. Just remember this; Fighting on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics, even if you win you're still retarded.

ya your right. i dont see why i wouldn't like him. i can run a thread for MONTHS and get a ton of useful info with a single problem, just asking questions and researching. till mr faspakr here comes along. i'd love to work with everyone on this site, but i dont need this kinda crap. if thats to much to ask for, well, we're stuck then. cause if anyone wants to tell me exactly what im doin wrong, and i mean exactly, then ill change it. but until then, dont expect anything

You just don't want to take anyone's advice and you said you were 17 and your trying to tell people that know a lot more about this stuff than you do that they don't know what they are talking about. i do know a guy that has a camero with a 350 that is built up and has well over 700 hp if you didn't say you were 17 i would of guessed you were like 12 just the way you are acting

FP: i'd gladly like to start over, i'll be the first to appologize, i realize the good majority of this arguement has been stupid, and its not your fault, but i chose to pick on you because you sided with the same people who i kindly asked to keep their opinions to themselves. My OP was asking how to get quick power out of a 2.9. thats it. but for some reason certain people think there is no way to get power out of a 2.9 and i can get that, but if there was no good way, why bother posting? i mean its one thing to think to yourself maybe he should put a 4 liter in and reap all the benefits of this easy and popular swap (which according to RANGER i could never do because im 12), but i even said right away i cant afford to lose my truck for more than a couple days! i also stated once i was done school i would rather just make it a project and build it to my liking which is really what matters.
Now if you along with all the other TRS members who would like to see me 4.0 swap instead of following alternatives cant just accept that what i do to my truck is ultimately up to me, then i'll be out of a so far fairly helpful resource.
 
Well i have been running the 2.9 for a couple months now with my 31's and 3.73 gears and im starting to hate the 2.9, its very gutless when it comes to highway driving, on the trails its alright but im going to be dropping a 4.0 into my ranger pretty soon. Do the 4.0 swap and save yourself the money, and man the famous 2.9 tick gets on my nerves. Im gonna end up in the looney toon bin lol
