Seafoam

Any solvent can kill your engine at idle. That stuff does work. I used it in my moms Rodeo that didn't have enough compression to run. Dumped a can in the oil, turned it over, and it got the rings to unstick enough to gain enough compression to run again. Seeing that I used it in my wifes T-bird (4.6) and ran it around for 10-15 minutes before changing the oil. Well, it cleaned the innards enough to get a low oil pressure light to come on at idle while warm, so now I have to change the oil pump in it before selling the car, lol. Seafoam also reminds me of GM Top Engine Cleaner, and that stuff works great, and you use it the same way. Suck it up a vacuum line. Let the engine die and let it sit for a few minutes. Have fun starting it up. Have even more fun mosquito fogging your neighborhood.

Totally off topic here, your avitar thing just about made me fricken die laughing. first time i watched it i was like huh? and every time it just gets funnier.:icon_rofl::icon_thumby:
also, is getting your vehicle started again Really difficult after giving it a healthy dose? mines fairly difficult to start but not impossible, but i dont want to use that stuff and not be able to get it started.:icon_confused:
maybe ill try it out sometime soon, following the instructions in the vid...

Never hydrolocked anything of mine. I hydrolocked my mustang motor when we had a bad rainstorm and my intake sucked up a shkitload of water. But Ive used seafoam alot and never hurt nuthin. I'd like to see an actual motor locked up due to the stuff before I knock it.

my dad swears by it after pouring one can in the gas tank of his explorer and running it. it used to run like crap but ran a lot better after that. i personally go for the Lucas upper cylinder lubricant. my bronco II runs crappy until fully warmed up, it will miss if held at like 2k rpm and for a while actually wouldn't run very well at all. i ran that lucas through it and it purred from start up. I actually need to run it again. And as an employee of Autozone, we sell Seafoam for $8.99... in Oregon. Lots of ppl come in asking for it by name and won't be sold on anything else. lots of ppl also ask for the Berryman B12 stuff which is pretty much like the seafoam i believe. by the way, Gumout fuel injector/carb cleaner is on sale 2 for $4...:icon_thumby:

Do you have to change the oil right after this?

Why thank you :) Yeah, it will be hard to start afterward.

If you put it in your crank case, yes. Run it for about 15 minutes and change the oil.

Berryman Engine Degreaser (the one with the GM 2.8 FWD v6 on the front of the can) is some amazing stuff! I put that stuff on a part that was covered in some heavy grease and grime and the Berryman cleaner just cut right through it and took it off. I was amazed. I just wish someone around here sold it... I got that can from a friend that was down from New York.

Hmmm, didnt know that. I put it in my oil and leave it. I guess I oughta go change it, huh. Goin on 12k miles. And 2nd bottle of seafoam.

He said to add enough to your intake to stall your engine :shok:

Yep. Used the stuff a bunch of times. Got rid of idle issues and stumbling. I pour the stuff in slowly, the vacuum suction makes it really easy. Use about 2/3 of the can then pour it in fast enough to stall the motor. Put the rest in the gas tank so it doesn't get wasted. Wait 15-30 minutes and fire it up and enjoy the scene.

I meant if you did like I did and added a while can to the crank case to try to free stuck piston rings. If you're only doing a third of a can like they say, I doubt it would hurt anything. I know when I dumped a can in the wifes old T-bird, it thinned the oil pretty good. Enough to the point the oil pressure light would flicker when stopped at stop signs.

I have dumped a whole can in there. In my expedition. Its been 5k since I did it and 15k since my last oil change (Im cuttin it a little close, im due a change)

hol crap... I used this stuff and my neighbor came out (running) thinking my house was on fire. GREAT product. I spat out coal black smoke after letting it sit for 15 min. used it again and it spat out gray smoke. I might need to do it again.

You guys wait !2k miles to change your oil? I change my oil every 5k miles!

How does it help if you just dump a can in the gas tank? I wouldn't want to take the chance of hydrolocking my engine putting it in the hose..

Yes you can use it. Add some into the oil as well as the fuel tank. Then run 'er. She should loosen up after a little bit.

It's basically a solvent. It cleans out the fuel pump, lines, and injectors. Gets rid of any varnish and trash thats in there.
