My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
Something in the house, just a companion, gotta be friendly, i love black labs but i dont want a 125lb dog running around the house that thinks hes a lap dog.

Im seriously considering a basset hound, always liked them. Input?

later,
Dustin

We have a shiba inu...he's a japanese hunting dog but he's not much of a hunter. He does love chasing rabbits though, and the snow. Sorry it's small, i'll get some better pics later.

Bearded Collie. I take Max for a walk and women come out of their houses to bend over and pet him. Actually had a gal stop her Jeep in the middle of the street and get out to pet him. This dog is a babe magnet. Max weighs 51 lbs under all that hair.

first dog I have owned in my whole 18 years of life, really smart dog just is somewhat stubborn. But doesnt jump on the furniture, or bed unless told to. Attracts ladies as well.

I'm hopefully getting a black lab here sometime soon. If you can afford to have your dog with you constantly, get a pit bull. I had the most friendly and loyal female pit bull ever, but she couldn't stand being left alone and would tear stuff up. If I spent all day with her, she was the calmest dog ever.

This is Pixie she is an English Bulldog 18" tall 60lbs and a whole lot of fun plus she will sleep 20 hours a day

my friend just got a puppy basset hound and it is the coolest little dog. i would go Boston Terrier though. i had one and it was the smartest dog ever. i would tell her to stay and she wouldnt even blink till i said come. very smart and easy to train. loyal too

IMO Border Collies and Aussies are the way to go.

Shiba Inus are cool too :icon_thumby:

I worked at a Kennel for a year so I've formed my own opinions after taking care of hundreds of dogs.

Yeah, Shiba Inus are really cool, I hear they can be quite temperamental and take a lot of work to train. That said, the few that I've been around have been a blast!

I have no idea what I would get if I got my own dog.

schnauzer. intelligent, easy to train, don't shed, Friendly with known people, hates strangers, and the can sense evil intentions......... did I mention my little guy is only 4 months old and was going to tear the arm of some dude that stepped up on the porch with out being invited that ended getting arrested 2 days later for home invasion....... and he always puts himself between my wife/ kids and suspected danger.

He's pretty smart. He won't go in the pool in the back yard but when I wash the trucks he barks because he loves chasing the water coming out of the hose and rollin in it. He loves goin for rides. When we had snow he was hilarious to watch. Sometimes i'll buy him big bones and pigs ears and he'll bury em and about a month later he'll dig it up and start chewin on it. He's friendly but I can tell he's becoming territorial. Very friendly and loves to play alot :icon_thumby:

check out your local spca and get you a mutt!

best $$ ever spent!

a mutt isnt a bad idea. they are generally very healthy since they are mixed with a bunch of breeds

I would get a blue heeler if i were you. I have had three of them. Very smart dogs. You can teach them anything. Mine even knows how to watch tv on command. They are about 40lb dogs so they dont hurt too much when they jump on ya unless the foot goes into your nuts. They have all been great with kids too.
