Our 70 MPH survival.

damn; i loved that truck too but glad youre okay.. i know how it is losing a ranger but eventually you'll find a great deal like i did

Just another of many horrifically wrecked rangers I see on here- they seem to hold up so damn good in accidents, I'm impressed with every one... Ford didn't get a lot of crap right over the years, but I'm convinced the ranger is the best vehicle they ever built by a long ways.

so, the story. I was driving 75 mph on a road that goes from 2 way traffic through an intersection onto the highway with 2 lanes in each direction. The chevy avalanche was facing the opposite direction and took a left turn through the intersection. I slammed the brakes, and slammed into the Avalanche on the side of the rear wheel. While he should Not have turned, I should not have been going 15 over the speed limit. We made contact at probably 65 or 70 mph. The intersection was a little wet and my tires broke loose.

And both of the people in the Avalanche are ok, no injuries. But If I hadnt hit my brakes, I would have hit the passenger door of the avalanche and killed the driver's wife.

And as for my plans, I intend on saving money and getting another Ranger. I already know of a couple nearby. I'm trying to find a killer deal so if your nearby and have something(preferably 95-97, haha, exact replacement) that you want to sell sometime closer to this summer let me know.

Dude, that's not your fault!

You may have been speeding, but your speed wasn't excessive. The other driver made a left turn when it was UNSAFE to do so-it was his job to identify that you were travelling faster than posted and wait until you cleared the intersection.

In my eyes the way you tell the story that this was 75/25 the other drivers fault. HE crossed YOUR path of travel.

UNTIL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY FORCES IT ON YOU, DO NOT ACCEPT FAULT FOR THIS!

That is of course, just my opinion but don't ever forget that the insurers job is to make it your fault and not pay you...

dude this thread is depressing
glad everyone is ok so how are the people in the avalanche?
those fire fighters classes pay off cervical immobilation come to mind
glad you guys are alright i hope if that ever happens to me my truck will hold up

Chris is right you probably would have hit him no matter what speed you were traveling. when he crossed your path he had to be sure he could safely be out of your way before you got there. you shouldn't have been speeding speeding but he caused the crash.

glad to hear ur ok, altho idk if ne 1 else realized this but it happend on 3...6...9 sequence of number kinda odd

I'm thinking, "tough little truck"

If it weren't for speed, the other driver would have been 100% at fault due to failure to yield right of way. The other driver should still be at fault just not 100%. I was on the other end of the situation 3 years ago (much slower speed, I was nearly stopped, other driver was going 35 or so), the insurance company determined that I was 100% at fault at my insurance rates didn't go down until last month. Glad you are both fine.

Glad to hear you made it out ok only looked like a ranger by the mirriors but i bet you that ranger tore that avalacnch a new "a" hole, to bad on the truck tho i realy liked the look of it, but now it can become a buggy (Y)

upon careful observation looks like the frame is fine. did you end up going underneath it a little bit?

Dunno how far I would trust it, something bent enough for the cab to hit the bed pretty good. Hard to eyeball something like that.

With a wet intersection they prolly wont be able to assess yoru speed all that well, you had the right of way. thats your story YOU BETTER STICK TO IT.

Wow!! Rangers can take a lot!!

I was travailing down a highway once and was looking for a road going 55. The sign was hidden and I saw it a little to late but still tried to make the turn. I found out that 55 is a little to fast for a turn. Long story short the truck turned 90 deg. so it looked like I was going down the high way sideways, I went off the road and hit the ditch sideways. I was fine. The stop sign wasn't. My door was smashed in but the window wasn't broken. The seat belt caught me so I didn't hit my head on anything. So I started my engine and drove it out of the ditch and home. I was surprised my wheels were still in line after a 55 mph bash to the tires. So I really trust my Ranger now. :)
