who all did the 44 knuckle swap?

the tech page ttb knuckle swap seemed like it was pretty easy. I was wondering how many people actually did one and was it worth it? or should I consider swapping the whole ttb44?

At least three guys on here have done it. They would probably all agree it's worth it, if you get the parts for cheap.

Another good option is to swap on Jeep hubs, and beef up the tabs on the spindle locknut washer. This gives you a pretty strong setup.

what do you mean beef up the tab on the washer? i never heard of that

It seems sometimes the tab slips out of the spindle groove while tightening the locknut. Either adding a bit of metal to it with a welder, or bending the washer very slightly oval makes the tab sit further down in the spindle groove. I've never had any problems with this on mine though (mine are still the OEM Dana washers).

mine have a pin is that what you mean? I had a 1988 ttb44 set up given to me. Its on front half of frame still everythings there springs , radius bars brake calipers , lines , steering linkage, he pretty much cut front half of truck off except body. even rims

The tab slips out of the groove in the spindle, because is doesn't go deep enough. I pounded the washer into an oval shape to hug the spindle better, but it would always return to its round shape after awhile. So I added some more steel with a welder. After doing that, setting the bearings up correctly, and tightening the outer nut down to 250 ft. lbs., I never have to worry about my bearings. That's with 35s on a 10" rim with a lot of offset.

my washers dont have a tab like that. that may be the problem.

Im going to look into the tab. thats the piece of the puzzle that was missing. I couldnt understand how that pin alone was going to keep it from spinning. It spun as a unit without the tab. Just out of curiosity It looks like warn nut conversion has the tabs. the off brand I bought bought did not. which brands have tabs and which do not? leason learned.

they all have the tab.... on that washer with the holes in it (on the inside of the washer).... almost like a keyway. it doesnt go as deep into the groove in the spindle.
