Well... i temporarily relieved the Ranger of its duty to hold the driveway from floating up to the sky this afternoon. I took it to pick up David who grumbled about no AC.. then took it and David to Meijer to pick up my weeks grocery order.

dunno about epic, but it did get some use. may drive it around a bit this weekend as well

Just some pics and thoughts on taking stuff off before crushing.

A couple pics of what I'm starting with. I did lower it down to work on it. I will be pulling the motor and wiring harness to give to a friend who is putting it into an English car. The a4ld was rebuilt not long before the truck stopped running. That will go into my pinto behind the 2.8l.

Some pics of the throttle cable and cruise cable. I may keep them for some other project. Not sure yet.

And finally, the fawking fan. I'm not sure how it...

I know. But there is rust in a lot of places. I hope to get the fenders and doors off at least, they can go over to my race-truck for spares. The box is pretty rotten on the other side. Cab corners are gone. Motor and trans are going to other projects. All my other rangers are getting parts pulled then crushed. I have to be off the property by years end.

Well, not during this weekend and right now it's cleaning gear and catching up on all the stuff that didn't get done during the week while we were gone, here's a brief snap shot of what I have since I'm still waiting on pictures from Jessica.

I'm registered for the show field at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix this weekend but it was raining off and on all day so I will go on Sunday. Will post pics.

Sorry I have disappointed everyone. I had thought I might pressure wash the engine bay this afternoon. But forgot I had committed to joining some church friends for lunch today.

In my opinion, getting the passenger side engine mount removed was almost epic. I tried to access that nut way back when I installed the SuperRunner steering linkage. You can see the idler arm pivot bracket bolted to the crossmember right there. So, I knew for many years that this struggle was coming. I'm glad to have overcome it. I still need to figure out my new 5.0l engine mounts. But, I can create something that uses existing access points. That's the beauty of custom fabrication.

Time to relax and prepare for County Jury duty this week. Oh. Looks like I'm ready.

Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix this weekend. One of the largest vintage car races in the nation. Had the Ranger in the Showfield with the two award plaques I got from Carlisle. Regular parking is $20, the Showfield is $65 but it’s worth it to be in the middle of the action and not to have to walk up the hill with my two new knees. @PetroleumJunkie412 and Mrs. Petro stopped by to say hi.

The challenge was to enjoy the weekend with your Ford Ranger / Bronco II / Explorer, take some photos, and then share the photos and tell us what you did on Monday.

If this was a homework assignment you all would have failed.

Since I posted this challenge, I felt like I should do something to participate so....

Here's how I spent my weekend with my Ranger:

Friday

My kids had bought me a 5'x8' Danchel Awning for Christmas, so I decided to finally install it Friday so I could do something with the Ranger and share it.

Saturday

On Saturday I headed up into Oklahoma and found what's left of the town of Fleetwood which use to sit along the Chisholm Trail and would have been the first town you passed on the trail after you crossed the Red River from Texas.

From here I headed north and made a stop at Monument Hill and the Chisholm Trail Overlook just north of Waurika, Oklahoma.

​

Along the way I saw this beautiful spotted horse and had to stop and take a photo.

From here I continued north to Duncan, Oklahoma and visited the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center. Admission was only $6.00 ($5.00 for guys driving silver Ford Rangers and $4.00 for kids). It was a pretty cool place. They had a small 4D theater that took you along on a cattle drive on the Chisholm Trail. You could feel the wind, rain, storm, vibrations and smell the campfire.

Then I checked out an animatronic display that had a cowboy and Jessie Chisholm telling a story.

There was a lot to see. A lot of interactive stuff. Especially for kids. They also had some beautiful art and sculptures.

Sunday

On Sunday I decided to open up the awning and see how it worked.

After messing with the awning, I headed to Walmart to get some groceries but took the backroads for a more scenic trip. Came across some future steaks and ground beef along the way.

Having completed the assignment, I'm giving myself an 'A'.
