2.5L ('98-'01) 2000 2.5l wont start

working on 2000 2.5l 8 plug for the neighbor, she said it died and wouldnt start. I have read tons of post about this but still having troubles, Iread if the check engine light goes off while cranking that the cam sensor is good.... its got power at the coils, it has spark at the plugs using a spark tester, good fuel presure, it wouldnt start with starting fluid. new battary, what needs to be tested next? i know i am missing something Thank for taking time to read this and thanks for any feedback

Well... you have two of the big three when it comes to starting. Spark and fuel. The third is compression.

Pull a plug and check compression. Inspect the plug and ensure it's not flooded. There should be a presence of fuel just not wet.

If flooded, the clear flooded engine procedure is to hold the gas pedal to the floor while cranking the engine. This tells the computer to not send spark while cranking.

I didn't see it mentioned but I would make sure the timing belt is still there and working, there's a plastic plug on the front of the timing cover that you should be able to see the belt through, if it's floppy in there it needs a timing belt, it's not an interference engine so no worries if it did go...
